  • Publication number: 20190029522
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for 3D imaging (including 3D optical coherence tomography imaging) to measure the shape of orthodontic aligners, teeth, and other oral structures simultaneously, in-vivo or in-vitro. These methods and apparatuses may be used to determine contact locations of aligners with teeth and/or teeth with other teeth with very high precision, including determining the size of gaps where they are not in contact. These measurements may be used design, modify or replace an aligner and/or to verify aligner fit. 3D models of the whole aligner and teeth may be generated.

  • Publication number: 20190021817
Abstract: An orthodontic alignment device can have a palatal contour anchorage (PCA) feature that generally matches the shape of the patient's hard pallet. This PCA feature may be built slightly off-set to deliberately push against the patient's palate and/or gingiva to provide anchorage support of staged translation of the teeth. By transferring the required anchorage away from the teeth and onto the palate, through the PCA feature, the adjacent teeth are no longer subjected to unwanted side effects of reaction forces.

  • Publication number: 20180353974
Abstract: In a centrifuge having a rotor with a rotor body that holds a sample and that is rapidly rotated, an inclined surface that extends upward as it extends radially outward is formed on an upper-side outer peripheral portion of the rotor, in a region that is at a radially outward side and at an upper side of the outer edge of an opening. The inclined surface is a continuous ring-like inclined surface that has the same cross-sectional shape in the circumferential direction and is formed into a straight-line shape or a curved-line shape in cross-section along a rotation central axis. Although winds occur during high-speed rotation of the rotor, the winds are rectified by the inclined surface, and a component force for pressing the rotor body in a downward direction acts thereon.

  • Publication number: 20180295347
Abstract: In a position measuring apparatus, a correspondence point detector detects, for each set of images at a respective one of time instants, correspondence points from the respective images of the set, where the correspondence points are points on respective image planes representing the same three-dimensional position. A projection point calculator calculates a projection point of each of the correspondence points detected at the respective time instants onto each of a plurality of common planes set at different depthwise positions in a world coordinate system using preset camera parameters. A reconstruction point calculator calculates a point at which distances to a plurality of rays each connecting the projection points of the correspondence point on a respective one of the image planes onto the plurality of common planes are minimized, as a reconstruction point representing a three-dimensional position of the correspondence point.
