  • Patent number: 10221752
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a split cooling apparatus for an internal combustion engine, the apparatus including: a base inserted into a water jacket of a cylinder block, the base surrounding an outside of a cylinder along a shape of the cylinder; an insertion groove formed on the base by being depressed into an inner surface of the base; and a sealing member inserted into the insertion groove, wherein when a temperature of cooling water supplied into the water jacket reaches a preset temperature or higher, the sealing member expands so as to close a flow passage between the base and the cylinder, thereby increasing flow resistance of the cooling water and thus reducing a heat transfer rate of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 10180101
Abstract: A fail-safe control method for a vehicle cooling system, in which an engine and a vehicle can be properly operated even when a water temperature sensor malfunctions. When only one of two water temperature sensors malfunctions, control may be performed so that an engine and a vehicle can properly operate. When both the two water temperature sensors malfunction, the fail-safe function of the flow rate control valve can be enabled to entirely prevent cooling water from being overheated, thereby improving the reliability of the operation of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10161292
Abstract: A cooling system for a vehicle and a control method thereof improves fuel efficiency through quick warm-up of an engine by controlling a flow rate of cooling water passing through an EGR cooler. In the cooling system and control method cooling water with an increased temperature through flow stagnation control is first supplied to an oil heat exchanger side. Heat energy generated from the engine is used to rapidly raise a cooling water temperature and an oil temperature. A warm-up characteristic is improved through the exhaust heat recovery function by heat exchange between exhaust gas and the cooling water in the EGR cooler.

  • Publication number: 20170321595
Abstract: The present invention relates to a technology that can simultaneously control the flow rate of a coolant and perform variable separate cooling by controlling the opening rate of a flow control valve. The flow control valve has an inlet port connected to a coolant outlet of a cylinder block and a plurality of outlet ports connected to a cooling inlet port of an engine such that the opening rate of a first outlet port is symmetrically changed in a first direction and a second direction from a mid-operation angle of the entire operation section of the flow control valve.
