  • Patent number: 8405933
Abstract: A disk drive suspension is provided with a load beam and a flexure. A tongue portion is formed on the flexure. The tongue portion comprises a slider mounting surface and a flat portion. A slider is mounted on the slider mounting surface. A dimple is formed on the flat portion. A tip of the dimple projects thicknesswise relative to the tongue portion toward the load beam. A protrusion is formed on a facing surface of the load beam. An end face of the protrusion projects thicknesswise relative to the load beam toward the dimple. As the tip of the dimple contacts the end face of the protrusion, the tongue portion is swingably supported on the protrusion.

  • Patent number: 8233245
Abstract: A piezoelectric element with electrode is capable of preventing an assembling error. The piezoelectric element includes a piezoelectric body configured to deform according to polarity in response to a voltage applied thereto, electrodes formed on surfaces of the piezoelectric body, respectively, a non-electrode part formed on at least one of the surfaces of the piezoelectric body, the non-electrode part continuing to the one electrode that is on the at least one surface of the piezoelectric body, and a boundary between the non-electrode part and the one electrode. The boundary has a pattern to indicate the polarity of the piezoelectric element.

  • Patent number: 7835114
Abstract: A disc drive apparatus has a base, a disc, and a carriage. The base has a first vibration mode and a second vibration mode as reference vibration modes with respect to frequency response characteristics observed when the disc drive apparatus is shaken. The second vibration mode has a low-frequency second vibration mode (Base 2nd-1), in which a waveform peak is created on the low-frequency side, and a high-frequency second vibration mode (Base 2nd-2), in which a waveform peak is created on the high-frequency side. The two second vibration modes (Base 2nd-1 and Base 2nd-2) have a relationship such that the phase of a pivot position is inverted between them. A frequency of a first bending mode of an arm of the carriage is set in a frequency domain in a trough between the two second vibration modes.

  • Patent number: 6046887
Abstract: A suspension comprises a load beam made of a thin metal plate, a flexure made of a thinner metal plate than this load beam and fixed to the load beam, and a wiring portion. The flexure includes a tongue, and a pair of outrigger portions positioned at both sides of the tongue. A slider is provided on the tongue. The wiring portion includes an electrical insulating resin layer provided on the flexure, and an electrical conductive layer laminated on this electrical insulating resin layer. The wiring portion further includes a middle flexible part along the outrigger portions. This middle flexible part is separated from the tongue and outrigger portions, and is in a suspended state in a slit between the tongue and outrigger portions.
