    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for water management in a direct methanol fuel cell system using a heat exchanger and including a pipe for connecting a cathode outlet of a fuel cell stack with a mixer. The method includes: measuring an output voltage and/or an output current of the fuel cell stack; extracting a concentration value of the mixed fuel corresponding to the measured output voltage and/or current from a look-up table; comparing the extracted concentration value of the mixed fuel with a reference concentration value; and forcibly cooling a fluid flowing in a pipe for a time period by a heat exchanger coupled to the pipe when the extracted concentration value of the mixed fuel is higher than the reference concentration value.

    Abstract: A bipolar plate includes at least two channels respectively arranged in first and second opposite surfaces of the bipolar plate, the at least two channels adapted to allow respective fluids to flow therethrough; the first surface of the opposite surfaces of the bipolar plate has hydrophobicity and the second surface of the opposite surfaces of the bipolar plate has hydrophilicity; a unit cell includes such a bipolar plate; and a fuel cell system also includes such a bipolar plate. With this configuration, carbon dioxide and water produced by a chemical reaction of a unit cell is easily discharged to the outside, to enhance the power generation efficiency of the unit cell and to enhance the power generation efficiency of the fuel cell system.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a mixing tank for a fuel cell system having a housing, wherein the housing comprises: an inlet portion through which a low concentration fuel and a high concentration fuel are introduced; a mixing portion in which the introduced fuels are mixed; and an outlet portion through which the mixed fuel is discharged, wherein the mixing portion comprises a mixing member to divide a flow of the introduced fuel into a plurality of flows, so that low concentration un-reacted fuel discharged from a stack is uniformly mixed with high concentration fuel, thereby producing hydrogen containing fuel having a predetermined, uniform concentration. Further, a hydrogen containing fuel uniformly mixed and having a predetermined concentration is supplied to a stack, thereby enhancing efficiency of generating electricity.

    Abstract: There are provided a pump of a noise suppression and vibration proof structure and a fuel cell system using the same. The fuel cell system includes at least one electricity generator including an electrolyte membrane and an anode and a cathode attached to the both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane to generate electricity energy by the electrochemical reaction between fuel containing hydrogen and oxidant supplied to the anode and the cathode, a fuel supplying unit including a pump for supplying the oxidant to the electricity generator, and a fixed frame that is provided on a lower frame and to which the pump is fixed. The pump is separated from the lower frame and is fixed to and combined with the fixed frame by the belt-shaped fixing member on the side surface of the fixing frame with a buffering member interposed. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the noise and vibration of the pump.

    Abstract: A stack for a fuel cell includes a first collecting plate having a first electric polarity, a second collecting plate having a second electric polarity different from the first electric polarity, and at least one electricity generator located between the collecting plates. The at least one electricity generator is for generating electric energy due to electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to be collected by the collecting plates. Coupling members press the at least one electricity generator in an airtight connection between the collecting plates. A terminal member protrudes from the second collecting plate and is electrically connected to the first collecting plate and insulated from the second collecting plate, such that the terminal member is used as a first terminal having the first polarity. The second collecting plate or a second terminal member may also be used as a second terminal having the second polarity.

The pump fixing accessory comprises a vibration absorbing section for absorbing the vibration generated by the driving of the pump(s), a first connection section having one end connected to the vibration absorbing section and another end connected to the pump(s), and a second connection section having one end connected to the vibration absorbing section and another end connected to the body plate of the fuel cell.
