  • Patent number: 6310705
Abstract: The invention relates to a duplex outdoor base station utilizing a hybrid system of a high amplifier and optic antenna to communicate over both radio and optic frequencies. The base station includes: a RF front end part interfaced with an optic antenna; a receiver interface unit for transmitting the received signal to the RF front end part after amplifying a received signal; a transceiver unit for transmitting the transmitted/received signal to the RF front end part; a base station transceiver subsystem (BTS) test unit, coupled to the front end part, for performing a self-diagnosis of a BTS; and an optic antenna interface unit for connecting an optic antenna system with the receiver interface unit. This base station transceiver subsystem (BTS) is a kind of hybrid system for simultaneously operating an optic antenna and a radio frequency antenna.

  • Patent number: 6219327
Abstract: An optical disk player, used for reproducing data recorded on a laser or compact disk, is disclosed. In the disk player, a dust cover is rotatably hinged to the top surface of a pick-up unit. The above dust cover is brought into movable contact with and is operated in conjunction with the guide surface of a cam member. The dust cover thus selectively covers or opens the objective lens of the pick-up unit. Due to the dust cover, it is possible to almost completely prevent foreign substances, such as dust, from sticking on the lens, thereby effectively protecting the lens. The dust cover precisely opens or covers the lens in conjunction with a slidable movement of a guide rod of the dust cover relative to a sectioned guide surface of the cam member. The guide surface of the cam member is formed within a range corresponding to a distance between the inside edge of the chucking place of the disk to the junction between the chucking place and the data place of the disk.

  • Patent number: 6164129
Abstract: According to the present invention, apparatus and methods are provided for monitoring the environment of an outdoor base station to protect the outdoor base station from variations of the environment. An apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an environment monitor for monitoring the environment of the outdoor base station, for transmitting a command for power shutdown upon detecting a fatal state of environment, and for transmitting a command for resuming power upon detecting a lapse of the fatal state. A power supply control unit shuts down power supplied to the outdoor base station in response to the command for power shutdown from the environment monitor, and resumes power to the outdoor base station in response to the command for resuming power from the environment monitor.

  • Patent number: 5978325
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for chucking an optical disk and for driving a tray in an optical disk player. Combined gears 40 includes a plurality of gears. In accordance with the revolutions of the combined gears, an optical disk is chucked, and a tray 12 is loaded. That is, when the combined gears 40 revolve, they are meshed with a first gear unit 50 to load the tray 12. If the combined gears 40 further revolve, then a protruding piece 48 of the combined gears 40 is engaged with a slider cam 37 to activate a chucking means. In a state with the optical disk chucked, if the tray 12 is to be loaded, the combined gears 40 mesh with a second gear unit.
