  • Patent number: 7817577
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method for balancing the quality of a wireless communication channel wherein the quality of the wireless communication channel can be more accurately estimated and adjusted on the basis of the combination of observation results of the number of data frames failed to be transmitted in the past and a received signal strength (RSS), and reliability of data transmission over the channel can thus be increased, and a wireless communication apparatus using the same.

  • Publication number: 20100067388
Abstract: Provided is a method for reserving a propagation time by estimating a channel environment in a wireless personal area network. The method includes the steps of: a) measuring a propagation range to the reception station upon starting data transaction with the reception station; b) measuring an average Strength Signal (ARSS) for determining a final transfer speed upon checking a transfer speed corresponding to the propagation range to the measured reception station based on a pre-defined table; c) determining a final transfer speed based on the transfer speed corresponding to the propagation range to the reception station according to a result that the measured ARSS is compared with Upper Bound RSS (URRS) and Lower Bound RSS (LRRS); and d) reserving a next propagation time according to the determined final transfer speed.

  • Patent number: 7489674
Abstract: A method for wireless LAN communication using multiple channels is provided. An ATIM containing channel information is generated when there is data to be sent, and the ATIM is transmitted via a main channel after a predetermined period of time. When a station loses a channel reservation competition, the station generates and transmits via the main channel another ATIM containing channel information regarding another channel to be used from data transmission. The station then performs channel switching to the other channel corresponding to the channel information, transmits the data via the other channel, and switches the channel back to the main channel at the time of a subsequent beacon.

  • Publication number: 20050195821
Abstract: A method and apparatus dynamically control data traffic, such as multimedia streams, needing a guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) and normal data traffic, according to a variable communication environment. The method of dynamically controlling traffic in a wireless station includes reading header information of a packet received from an upper layer and determining a type of the packet, setting a priority according to the type of the packet, adjusting a size of a variable buffer by performing appropriate dynamic buffering according to the type of the packet, enqueuing the packet in a fixed buffer if the priority is high and enqueuing the packet in the variable buffer if the priority is low, and transmitting the packet enqueued in the fixed buffer to a destination station prior to the packet enqueued in the variable buffer.

  • Publication number: 20050013325
Abstract: A method for transmitting multimedia data in a wireless network using an access point, comprising receiving information on a data quantity from each of stations, and assigning and sending a waiting time to each of the stations based on the received information on the data quantity. Consistent with another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for transmitting multimedia data in a wireless network using an access point, comprising providing, by each of stations, information on data quantity to the access point, receiving a waiting time assigned by the access point based on the received information on the data quantity, and transferring, by each station, the data through contention in accordance with the assigned waiting time.

  • Publication number: 20040257996
Abstract: A wireless network communication method using an Access Point (AP). The method includes creating a polling list based on association identifications of stations stored in the AP. Thereafter, a polling signal is transmitted to one of the stations according to the polling list in an interval of a PCF mode. Data, which will be transmitted, is transmitted from the station in response to the polling signal transmitted from the AP. The data transmitted from the station is received by the AP, and is stored in a buffer of the AP. The number of pieces of data is compared with a threshold value set in the buffer. If the number of the pieces of data exceeds the threshold value, a polling signal is not transmitted to a next station and data stored in the buffer is transmitted to relevant stations.
