  • Patent number: 9762884
Abstract: An encoding device and method, and a decoding device and method, capable of encoding and decoding a multi-viewpoint image in accordance with a mode having compatibility with an existing mode. A compatible encoder generates a compatible stream by encoding an image that is a compatible image. An image converting unit converts the resolution of images that are auxiliary images. An auxiliary encoder generates an encoded stream of the auxiliary image by encoding the auxiliary image of which the resolution is converted. A compatibility information generating unit generates, as compatibility information, information that designates the image as a compatible image. A multiplexing unit transmits the compatible stream, the encoded stream of the auxiliary image, and the compatibility information. The encoding device can encode a 3D image of the multi-viewpoint mode.

  • Patent number: 9338430
Abstract: The present technology relates to an encoding device, an encoding method, a decoding device, and a decoding method capable of suppressing the amount of information without degrading the image quality of an image of a viewpoint that is used when the compatibility is secured in a case where a multi-viewpoint image is encoded. A compatible encoder generates a compatible stream by encoding an image A1 that is a compatible image. An image converting unit lowers the resolution of images B1 and C1 that are auxiliary images. An auxiliary encoder generates an encoded stream of the auxiliary image by encoding the auxiliary image of which the resolution is lowered. A multiplexing unit transmits the compatible stream and the encoded stream of the auxiliary image. The present technology can be applied to, for example, an encoding device that encodes a 3D image of the multi-viewpoint mode.

  • Patent number: 8914904
Abstract: A configuration is achieved in which content copying between media and content downloading are performed effectively and under strict management. In content copying between media, the identification information (medium ID) of a copying destination medium is obtained using an API for providing a predefined processing, then the obtained medium ID is transmitted to a server to obtain copying permission information from the server, and then content copying is performed under the management of the server. This configuration allows a copying destination medium to be managed, which can eliminate the unauthorized use of the content. Also, the configuration in which content downloading from the server is performed according to, for example, a Java® program allows a ROM disc on which the content is recorded to store the program and to be provided to a user.

  • Publication number: 20140177904
Abstract: A GUID as title information and a global serial number are recorded in a BCA of a digital video disc. A hash value of the GUID is embedded as an electronic watermark in a data area. When content data is reproduced from the digital video disc, a match of information of the two GUIDs is checked so as to prevent the digital video disc from being illegally copied. A lead-in area and a managing organization provide disc revocation lists. With a global serial number and a disc revocation list, content data can be prevented from being reproduced from an illegally distributed disc. A film WM detector detects data embedded in a movie shown in a theater so as to prevent content data from being reproduced from a disc on which the embedded data is recorded. Thus, content data can be prevented from being reproduced from an illegally distributed disc before a copyright supervisor of the content authorizes the disc to be distributed.

  • Patent number: 8750631
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing device and method whereby an image and so forth that a contents producer intends can be displayed in a case where a stereoscopic image content is displayed as a 2D image. A generating unit 13 generates multiplexed data including viewpoint image data for the left eye, and viewpoint image data for the right eye that are two viewpoints of image data, and a view switching flag for specifying image data used for display of a 2D image, of the viewpoint image data for the left eye and the viewpoint image data for the right eye thereof. With decoding of multiplexed data, a view switching flag is extracted from the multiplexed data, and image data used for display of a 2D image is selected from viewpoint image data for the left eye and viewpoint image data for the right eye following the view switching flag thereof.

  • Patent number: 8510852
Abstract: To provide an apparatus, a recording medium and a method for effectively preventing unauthorized use of a content. A content containing broken data different from correct content member data is recorded on an information recording medium. Furthermore, transform data, as the correct member data, to be substituted for the broken data, and a fix-up table storing setting position information of the content are recorded on the information recording medium. During the content playback process, the transform data is substituted for the content member data in accordance with the fix-up table recorded on the information recording medium. With this arrangement, even if the encryption key corresponding to the encrypted content recorded on the information recording medium is leaked, an apparatus unable to acquire the transform data cannot play back the content. Unauthorized use of the content is thus controlled.

  • Patent number: 8474049
Abstract: A virtual machine can be implemented by anyone because the interface and other information necessary for implementation are publicly available. Hence, if virtual machine is implemented maliciously, a program operating thereon can be made to operate maliciously instead of operating legitimately. By comparing secret information held in memory and specific to the virtual machine with verification information which a program holds itself, the program verifies that the virtual machine on which it is running has been legitimately implemented and excludes illegitimate virtual machines.

  • Publication number: 20130050424
Abstract: A multiview video decoding apparatus receives and decodes an encoded stream obtained as a result of encoding residual information, 2D images for N views, and depth images for N views, the residual information being the error between synthetic-view images generated using the 2D images for N views and the depth images for N views, and 2D images for (M?N) views at the view synthesis positions of the synthetic-view images. A view synthesizing apparatus generates the synthetic-view images by using the 2D images and depth images for N views decoded by the multiview video decoding apparatus. A residual information compensating apparatus adds the residual information into the generated synthetic-view images. The apparatus may be applied to a system that conducts view synthesis, for example.

  • Patent number: 8281362
Abstract: A virtual machine can be implemented by anyone because the interface and other information necessary for implementation are publicly available. Therefore, it is possible that by implementing the virtual machine illegitimately, programs run thereon on will be made to operate illegitimately instead of legitimately. A program compares secret information held by the virtual machine with verification information held by the program itself. The program thereby verifies whether the virtual machine that runs the program is implemented legitimately, and is able to reject an illegitimate virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 8261096
Abstract: An information processing apparatus, an information recording medium, an information processing method, and a computer program are provided. In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content, a configuration that allows use management on segmented content basis is provided. A plurality of content management units corresponding to title, index and other information are set by partitioning stored content in an information recording medium. Different unit keys that are encryption keys are allocated to different content management units. At least the content real data included in each content management unit is encrypted by use of the unit key and the encrypted data is stored. In content reproduction, units are identified and decryption is executed by use of a unit key corresponding to each unit for reproduction. In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content for example, each of segmented pieces of content may be managed.

  • Publication number: 20110317983
