Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a firmware update service, by which a Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) service can be efficiently provided. The device preferably includes a server for, upon start of the firmware update service, transmitting battery information and time information required for downloading and updating a delta file to a portable terminal and transmitting the delta file to the portable terminal at the request of the portable terminal. The portable terminal checks a battery capacity for downloading and updating the delta file through the battery information regarding an amount of required capacity for successfully downloading and/or executing the update, and the time information received from the server before downloading and updating the delta file, and displaying a time for downloading and updating the delta file.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a firmware over a network to update an update engine used for the firmware upgrade purposes in mobile devices. A specific identifier is inserted into a header of the delta file to inform that the delta file contains an upgrade for the update engine. Upon detection of the specific identifier, the mobile device performs an upgrade of the update engine using the delta file.

Abstract: Provided in a method of updating DST information in a wireless terminal, whereby the wireless terminal correctly and conveniently provides world time in consideration of the DST information. The method includes the steps of: transmitting, by a second server receiving DST information in real-time, the received DST information to the wireless terminal; and if the DST information is received, updating, by the wireless terminal, DST information of the wireless terminal based on the received DST information.

Abstract: A method and system for notifying service information to a wireless terminal are provided. More exact service information is provided to the wireless terminal when employing synchronization markup language (SyncML) device management (DM). The wireless terminal communicates with a server. The sever notifies the wireless terminal of information to be changed and a type of the information, and the information to be changed is updated by downloading the information to be changed from the server if update for the information to be changed is selected in the wireless terminal. Also, the wireless terminal communicating with a server is notified of information to be changed and a type of the information by the server.

Abstract: A method and for displaying and informing of synchronization progress more precisely, while data synchronization is being performed between a mobile terminal and a server, are provided. A mobile terminal and a server are connected in order to perform data synchronization. An initialization task for synchronization is performed, while recognizing a total number of data to be synchronized through exchange of initial information for synchronization, which includes a number of data to be synchronized according to each item, between the mobile terminal and the server. Data synchronization is performed while transmitting/receiving data to be synchronized between the mobile terminal and the server, when the initialization task for synchronization is completed. Progress of synchronization is displayed by indicating a number of data having been synchronized based on the total number of data to be synchronized, while the mobile terminal and the server are performing the data synchronization.
