  • Patent number: 7144116
Abstract: A digital light processing projector comprising a light source, a splitter module, a plurality of total internal reflection (TIR) prisms and digital mirror devices (DMDs), a combiner and a projection lens is provided. The splitter module is disposed in the light path of the light after the light source to split the light into a plurality of color lights. Each color light is incident to the total reflection plane of the TIR prism with an incident angle larger than the critical angle, and then is totally reflected to the DMD. Thereafter, each color light is reflected by the DMD being incident to the total reflection plane of the TIR prism with an incident angle smaller than the critical angle, and then passes through the TIR prism directly. The color lights passing through the TIR prisms are combined by the combiner and then projected by the projection lens.

  • Publication number: 20050168708
Abstract: A projection system includes a light source, a beam splitter module, a projection lens, and an optical combiner module includes at least one light valve for forming the image. A light beam emitted from the light source is split by the beam splitter module into three color lights and such three color lights are thereafter combined by the optical combiner module. The optical combiner module comprises a combiner and a plurality of prisms disposed adjacent to the combiner. The combiner comprises at least a pared-corner, and one side of at least one prism is leant adjacent to the pared-corner of the combiner so as to minimize the size of the optical combiner module and shorten the back focal length between the light valve and the projection lens. The second integration rod having a light incident surface, a light outgoing surface and a light reflection surface, is placed along the first integration rod. The light incident surface is parallel to the second integration rod, forming an angle between the light incident surface and light reflection surface. The first light source is vertically placed with respect to the second light source. The light emitted from the first light source is focused to the light incident surface of the first integration rod. The light emitted from the second light source is incident to the light incident surface of the second integration rod, and then reflected by the light reflection surface. The light reflected by the light reflection surface propagates forward the light outgoing surface of the second integration rod.

  • Patent number: 6796654
Abstract: A light distribution module adaptable to a LCD display system includes a first lens array having a plurality of lenses for condensing a light beam into a plurality of polarization separation elements for separating and converting the light beam into a first set and a second set of uniformly polarized and mutually orthogonal beams. An image source size reduction lens reduces and focuses the first set and second set of uniformly polarized beams into a second lens array having twice as many lenses as the first lens array. The second lens array has a first and second set of lens arrays for receiving and converting the light beams with a first and second polarizations into a plurality of beams all with the first polarization to focus to a size-reduced LCD panel for image display.

  • Patent number: 6304302
Abstract: A projection system used in a liquid crystal display (LCD) system is provided. The projection system has a light source, a polarization set which further includes a double dove prism, a vertical prism and a half-wave plate, a polarization beam splitter (PBS), a dichroic prism, and a projection lens. The light source emits a white light, which enters the polarization set and is split into a P-state polarized blue light and a mixed light. The mixed light includes an S-state polarized red light and an S-state polarized green light. The PBS allows the P-state polarized blue light to transmit and enter onto a blue light LCD panel, and deflects the mixed light by 90°. The dichroic prism splits the S-state polarized red light and the S-state polarized green light of the mixed light, which respectively enter a red light LCD panel and a green light LCD panel. The projection lens collects light from the red, green, blue LCD panels and project the lights onto a screen.
