Patent number: 6955240Abstract: A dual-stage air bag module for a passenger seat capable of easily controlling and changing gas pressures to be provided into an air cushion, and also implementing a miniaturization and a lightweight of the air bag module. The first and second inflators, which are controlled by a control unit, are arranged in a diagonal direction to each other within a housing. The first and second inflators are generally inflators for a driver seat air bag modules mounted in a steering wheel. The retainer is fixed in the state that a portion thereof is received in the upper portion of the housing in order to fix the cushion holder assembled with the air cushion within the housing. The retainer is coupled through a predetermined coupling member to the housing with the first and second inflators.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2002Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Assignee: Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jung-Bae Ahn, Jin-Chul Hwang, Seo-Hong Kim, Ju-Hyung Seo, Tae-Ho Song

Patent number: 6918610Abstract: A membrane horn switch structure of an airbag module does not include a back plate, which simplifies an inner configuration of a bag cover and ensures stable operation. The structure includes an outer support plate installed on a plurality of protrusions formed at an inner bottom of the bag cover, the outer support plate including a pair of films having edges which are sealed to form an inner space. A membrane horn switch unit includes a pair of inner support plates having an arc shape, which are installed in the outer support plate. The inner support plates are overlapped and spaced apart from each other. One end of each inner support plate is fixed to the outer support plates, and the other end of each inner support plate is free, so that the inner support plates are in contact with each other when the outer support plate is pressed.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2003Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Assignee: Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tae-ho Song, Byung-ryong Cho, Jin-chul Hwang, Seo-hong Kim, Jung-bae Ahn, Ju-hyung Seo

Patent number: 6840535Abstract: Disclosed is an airbag for a vehicle capable of minimizing gas leakage in an early stage through gas discharge holes in a housing when spreading an air cushion. In both sides opposite to a first housing, the gas discharge holes are formed for emitting gas. A retainer on whose upper surface is fixed the air cushion, and in whose both sides are formed a coupling having coupling holes corresponding to the gas discharge holes, is provided. This coupling part is coupled to the first housing through the coupling device. The gas discharge holes are made lengthwise to make it possible to move the retainer up and down. As a result, when reading the air cushion, some of the holes are opened by movement of the coupling part. Besides, the coupling holes reformed in the lower side of the coupling part, so when not spreading the air cushion, the gas discharge holes are kept closed by the coupling part.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2002Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd.Inventors: Gun-Woo Kim, Ik-Hwan Kim, Byong-Ryong Cho, Joon-Ho Kim, Jung-Bae Ahn, Jung-Soo Lee
