Patent number: 10115184Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and device for processing image data and a display device including the device for processing image data. The device for processing image data includes: an edge detector for receiving image data to be displayed, and performing edge detection on the image data to identify edge subpixel points; a brightness comparator for comparing brightnesses of the identified edge subpixel points with a preset brightness; a brightness attenuator for attenuating brightnesses of edge subpixel points which have a brightness greater than the preset brightness to obtain image data to be transmitted; and a data transmitter for transmitting the image data to a source driver. The present disclosure can effectively eliminate zigzag edges, and meanwhile guarantee the sharpness at edges of an image.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2016Date of Patent: October 30, 2018Assignee: EverDisplay Optronics (Shanghai) LimitedInventor: Jung-Chung Hsu

Patent number: 7995137Abstract: An exposure compensation method automatically generates an accurate exposure value to clearly show the profiles of objects in front of a black background or a white background. First, initial edge energy is derived from luminance values for pixels in a digital image having an initial exposure value. Maximum edge energy is obtained by varying an exposure compensation value for the digital image, and an optimal exposure compensation value according to the maximum edge energy is also obtained. If a difference between the maximum edge energy and initial edge energy is larger than a threshold value, a current exposure value is set to the initial exposure value compensated by the optimal exposure compensation value. Otherwise, the initial exposure value is directly designated as a current exposure value.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2006Date of Patent: August 9, 2011Assignee: Himax Technologies, LimitedInventor: Jung Chung Hsu

Patent number: 7479989Abstract: Chroma upsampling is performed by setting a chroma of a target pixel according to luma of neighboring pixels. When a luma of the target pixel differs from the luma of both of the reference pixels, the chroma of the target pixel is set to a value of (k*C1+(m?k)*C3+m/2) shifted n bits to the right. In this formula, n is an integer, m is equal to 2n, and k is equal to {0˜m, min(abs(abs(Y1?Y2)*k?abs(Y2?Y3)*(m?k)))}. Since luma are considered, and a precise calculation is used in this method, the calculations required are simplified and reduced, and video quality is improved.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2006Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Assignee: Himax Technologies LimitedInventor: Jung-Chung Hsu
