  • Publication number: 20250042732
Abstract: Disclosed is a single process for producing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon from methane by forming gas products comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and solid products comprising carbon and an iron-based catalyst from methane in a methane-containing feedstock through pyrolysis route involving auto-thermal reduction in a rotary kiln-type reactor in the presence of an iron-based catalyst and separating and recovering respective products.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 21, 2024
    Publication date: February 6, 2025
Inventors: Dong Min YUN, Jung Geun JANG, Ji Hoon LEE, Ye Rhee CHA
  • Publication number: 20250011175
Abstract: Disclosed are a silicon-carbon (Si/C) composite that is prepared by combining silicon with a porous carbon-based material obtained by removing iron impurities from solid carbon produced during pyrolysis for converting a methane-containing feedstock into hydrogen in the presence of an iron-based catalyst and the use thereof as an electrode material.

  • Patent number: 11981632
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing hydrogen, carbon, and ethylene from a methane-containing feedstock even without recycling of unreacted methane by providing a single process or system in which a methane-containing feedstock is subjected to two methane conversion steps. The method includes a first conversion step of producing hydrogen and carbonaceous materials and a second conversion step of producing acetylene from unreacted methane and hydrogen discharged from the first conversion step while maintaining a good methane conversion and suppressing coke formation, followed by separating and recovering ethylene and hydrogen produced through selective hydrogenation of acetylene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 28, 2022
Date of Patent: May 14, 2024
    Assignee: SK Innovation Co., Ltd.
Inventors: Dong Min Yun, Hee Soo Kim, Ji Hoon Lee, Jung Geun Jang, Dae Hyun Choo
