    Abstract: A method of producing liquid fuel by a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction using a thermal medium-circulated heat exchanger type reactor is provided. The thermal medium-circulated heat exchanger type reactor uses the cobalt metal foam catalyst including a metal foam coated with cobalt catalyst powder is used. Exothermic reaction heat generated by the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction occurring in the cobalt metal foam catalyst layer of the tube unit is controlled by thermal medium oil circulating in the shell unit at a reaction temperature of 190˜250° C. and a reaction pressure of 20˜25 atm, and simultaneously the reaction is conducted, thus producing liquid fuel.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an iron-carbide/silica composite catalyst that is highly reactive to a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis by firstly forming an iron-silicate structure having large specific surface area and well-developed pores through a hydrothermal reaction of an iron salt with a silica particle having a nanostructure, and then activating the iron-silicate structure in a high temperature carbon monoxide atmosphere. When using the iron-carbide/silica composite catalyst according to the present invention in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction, it is possible to effectively prepare liquid hydrocarbon with a high CO conversion rate and selectivity.

The method for producing liquid or solid hydrocarbons from a synthesis gas using Fischer-Tropsch synthesis according to the present invention comprises: a first step of applying an iron-based catalyst for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in which the number of iron atoms in the ferrihydrite phase fraction equals 10 to 100% and the number of iron atoms in the hematite phase fraction equals 0 to 90%, with respect to 100% of the number of the number of iron atoms, to a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactor; and a second step of activating the catalyst for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis by a synthesis gas which is a reactant under the conditions of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and carrying out the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis by means of the activated catalyst for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
