  • Patent number: 7954041
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting a signal in a communication system using a low density parity check (LDPC) code. An LDPC codeword is generated by encoding an information word at a coding rate. A puncturing pattern is generated when a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is an incremental redundancy (IR) scheme. An additional pattern is generated when the HARQ scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is a partial chase combining (CC) scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the puncturing pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the IR scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the additional pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the partial CC scheme.

  • Publication number: 20110044454
Abstract: A method and an apparatus reduce overhead for data integrity checks in a wireless communication system. When receiving a message, a first Integrity Check Value (ICV) is compared with a second ICV to detect an integrity error in the message. When the integrity error exists in the message, a frequency of the integrity error is counted. When the frequency of the integrity error is more than a threshold, a key update procedure is performed. Therefore, the overhead of the information for integrity check may be reduced in the wireless communication system.

  • Patent number: 7894394
Abstract: Radio resource allocation apparatus and method in a multi-channel system are provided. The method includes determining a type of a channel to be allocated to terminals, which request a resource allocation. When there is a terminal to be assigned the band AMC channel, necessary resources are allocated to the terminal as resources of the band AMC channel within a frequency band preferred by the terminal. A virtual resource space is generated which collects resources not allocated as the resources of the band AMC channel. Resources are allocated to terminals to be assigned the diversity channel from within the virtual resource space. Accordingly, the radio resources can be efficiently allocated in the multi-channel system where the diversity channel and the band AMC channel coexist.
