  • Publication number: 20130001895
Abstract: An apparatus includes a gasket disposed between a base and a flexible printed circuit bracket. A stiction between the gasket and flexible printed circuit bracket is greater than a stiction between the gasket and the base. The difference in stiction can be provided by differing materials and/or differing contact areas.

  • Patent number: 7832083
Abstract: A shipping comb combined with a head stack assembly (HSA) which includes sliders recording data onto or reading data from disks, suspensions having the sliders thereon, and end-taps at front ends of the suspensions, the shipping comb preventing the HSA from being damaged, the shipping comb including a body unit having protruding suspension spacers which are each inserted between middle portions of a pair of suspensions having a pair of sliders facing each other to prevent a collision of the middle portions of the pair of suspensions, and a head unit having protruding end-tap spacers inserted between the end-taps of the pair of the suspensions to prevent a collision of the front ends of the pair of suspensions, and connected to a front end of the body unit with a hinge.

  • Publication number: 20100246070
Abstract: A hard disk drive includes a head stack assembly including a read/write head mounted thereon and an actuator arm pivoting over a disk around a pivot shaft installed on a base, a pivot shaft holder rotatably supporting the pivot shaft and to which the actuator arm is coupled, and a bobbin provided at the opposite side of the actuator arm with respect to the pivot shaft holder and having a voice coil motor coil installed on at least one surface thereof, a crash stop coupled to the base and restricting displacement of the actuator arm, and a contact area reduction portion provided on at least one of the bobbin and the crash stop and including at least one non-contact section, in which the bobbin and the crash stop do not contact each other, in a contact section of the bobbin and the crash stop, when the bobbin and crash stop contact each other, to reduce the contact area between the bobbin and the crash stop.

  • Publication number: 20100246069
Abstract: An HDD includes a head stack assembly, a voice coil motor, and a retracting pin unit. The retracting pin unit includes a mobile retracting pin generating a retracting force to maintain the actuator arm at a predetermined position by interacting with the magnet when the read/write head is parked, and coupled to the bobbin to be capable of relatively moving with respect to the bobbin toward the magnet when the bobbin is separated from the magnet due to an external shock. A head on disk phenomenon, in which the parking state of the read/write head is removed when an external shock such as a linear shock or a rotary shock, which may be generated as the HDD is installed in a notebook computer, is applied to the HDD, may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20080180853
Abstract: An actuator latch apparatus usable with a hard disk drive apparatus includes a latch lever disposed on a base to pivot thereon and having a first latch prevention portion to prevent pivoting of an actuator arm in a direction, the actuator arm having a bobbin formed at a rear end portion thereof, and a bobbin protruding portion having a first catch portion provided at the bobbin and an auxiliary catch portion provided at the bobbin separated from the first catch portion to lock with the first latch prevention portion when the first catch portion is not caught by the first latch prevention portion.
