  • Patent number: 11745621
Abstract: A method for equalizing SOCs of battery packs in an electric vehicle, may include acquiring, by a controller, SOC information of the battery packs from battery pack state information acquired by state detectors under predetermined conditions of the electric vehicle, determining, by the controller, an average SOC value of the battery packs based on acquired SOC values of the respective battery packs, determining, by the controller, at least one battery pack required to be discharged for equalization of the SOCs of the battery packs among all the battery packs based on the SOC values of the respective battery packs and the determined average SOC value of the battery packs, and operating, by the controller, an electric load connected to the at least one determined battery pack required to be discharged to discharge the at least one determined battery pack required to be discharged.

  • Publication number: 20230187949
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for balancing batteries connected in parallel are provided. The apparatus collects States Of Charge (SOCs) of at least two or more battery packs, determines whether the at least two or more battery packs enter a balancing mode based on the collected SOCs of the at least two or more battery packs, determines a balancing control mode based on a vehicle state, when it is determined that the at least two or more battery packs enter the balancing mode, and controls a relay of at least one of the at least two or more battery packs depending on the determined balancing control mode to perform charging or discharging and performs balancing between the at least two or more battery packs.

  • Patent number: 10326177
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling charging of an electric vehicle includes a switch unit including a first relay and second relays, wherein the first relay is arranged on an electric line through which a first battery is connected in series to a second battery. The first and second batteries supply driving power of the electric vehicle. The plurality of second relays is arranged on charging lines through which charging power is supplied to the first battery and the second battery, respectively. Further, a control unit configured to control the first relay and the plurality of second relays such that the first relay is turned off and the plurality of second relays is turned on to supply the charging power of a charger connected to a charging terminal to the first battery and the second battery, respectively, when the first battery and the second battery are charged.

  • Publication number: 20170115370
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of diagnosing a current sensor of an eco-friendly vehicle is provided. A fault is detected in a current range between disconnection and short-circuit of a current sensor by monitoring whether a load using a high voltage in the eco-friendly vehicle is operated to detect a fault of the current sensor sensing an output current of a high voltage battery. The apparatus includes the current sensor configured to sense an output current of a high voltage battery and a load monitor that monitors whether a load in the eco-friendly vehicle is operated. A controller then detects an abnormality in the current sensor when the current sensor senses a current exceeding a first threshold value and the load is not operated.
