  • Patent number: 7465530
Abstract: An inorganic resist material is provided, which is an incomplete oxide of a phase-change material. The oxygen content in the inorganic resist material is lower than the stoichiometric oxygen content of a complete oxide of the phase-change material, and a general formula of the inorganic resist material is A1-xOx, in which A represents the phase-change material, and x is between 5 at. % and 65 at. %. The inorganic resist material can be used to form line patterns or recording pits with size smaller than the exposure light spot by using the laser of conventional lithography process as an exposure source.

  • Publication number: 20070116919
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical recording medium including a substrate and a recording layer having a bi-metal film layer structure formed on a surface of the substrate. The recording layer includes a first metal recording layer of a Ge metal thin film and a second metal recording layer of an Au metal thin film. The bi-metal film layer structure can be formed by sputtering, which is therefore compatible with a conventional disc process. In the optical recording medium, a write area of the recording layer is heated by laser irradiation to reach an eutectic point and melted to form alloy. A write recording point can be distinguished by telling a difference in reflectance between the alloy area and the non-reacted metal area, and thus may be used in both a low-speed recording and a high-speed recording, and can be used in FVD and blue ray DVD recorder.

  • Publication number: 20060120253
Abstract: A write-once optical recording medium includes an optical recording layer and a reaction layer attached to the optical recording layer, wherein the optical recording layer contains a phase change material and the reaction layer contains a dopant. Once the optical recording layer is first written in a predetermined manner, the dopant of the reaction layer diffuses into the phase change material of the optical recording layer, the resulting written optical recording layer is of amorphous phase and has a crystallization rate significantly lower than that of the un-written optical recording layer so that the written optical recording layer cannot be re-written. A light laser can be used to write the write-once optical recording medium of the present invention.
