In the system, at least one mobile station (MS) determines a transmission time of the DRC information such that a transmission period of the DRC information for each of the forward channels is equal, and sequentially transmits the DRC information repeatedly for the forward channels over at least one DRC channel for a predetermined number of slots. A base station (BS) determines a rate of a corresponding forward channel based on the DRC information received over at least one DRC channel.

    Abstract: A packet data generating method and apparatus for supporting multiple services in a wireless packet data communication system where an MS transmits two or more traffics to a BS on one of a reverse PDCH, a reverse FCH, and a reverse DCCH. To generate a PDU using non-signaling traffic and/or signaling traffic for one of the reverse physical channels, a multiplex option is determined during service negotiations between the MS and the BS. The multiplex option defines a traffic format having a header and a payload including traffic data, and the header includes a service reference identifier field, a length indicator field indicating the presence or absence of a length field, and the length field indicating the length of the traffic data. A PDU is generated by formatting a reverse traffic to have a header and a payload according to the determined multiplex option.

A tone inserter inserts a guard tone and a pilot tone into the data tone. A tone power allocator sets a different pilot-to-data tone power ratio according to a position of a slot, in which the packet data symbol is included, and allocates power according to the pilot-to-data tone power ratio. A transmitter transmits the packet data symbol.

    Abstract: A method for managing mobility of an Access Terminal (AT) using a Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol in a mobile communication system. Access authentication is performed between the AT and an Authentication, Authorization and Accounting server. The AG sends a DHCP Offer message including a Home Address (HoA) of a corresponding AT and sends a DHCP Acknowledgement message for accepting use of the HoA, to the AT, when the AT notifies the AG of its intention to use the HoA.
