  • Patent number: 8216872
Abstract: A light-trapping layer is integrated into a thin-film solar cell. It is integrated as a light-inlet layer, an intermediate layer or a shaded layer with nano-particles embedded in a transparent or non-transparent conductive film. Thus, light stays longer in an absorption layer with photocurrent increased; defects of interface between the absorption layer and the nano-material are decreased; anti-reflective effect to inlet light is enhanced; and a good integrity and a good reliability for long-time light-shining are obtained.

  • Patent number: 8154007
Abstract: A mesoporous silica having adjustable pores is obtained to form a template and thus a three-terminal metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) photodetector is obtained. A gate dielectric of a nano-structural silicon-base membrane is used as infrared light absorber in it. Thus, a semiconductor photodetector made of pure silicon having a quantum-dot structure is obtained with excellent near-infrared optoelectronic response.

  • Publication number: 20100215065
Abstract: The present invention coherent multiple-stage optical rectification terahertz wave generator discloses the generation of single-cycle terahertz radiation with two-stage optical rectification in GaSe crystals. By adjusting the time delay between the pump pulses employed to excite the two stages, the terahertz radiation from the second GaSe crystal can constructively superpose with the seeding terahertz field from the first stage. The high mutual coherence between the two terahertz radiation fields is ensured with the coherent optical rectification process and can be further used to synthesize a desired spectral profile of output coherent THz radiation. The technique is also useful for generating high amplitude single-cycle terahertz pulses, not limited by the pulse walk-off effect from group velocity mismatch in the nonlinear optical crystal used.

  • Patent number: 7106498
Abstract: The present invention discloses a means of the generation of tunable femtosecond pulses from 380 nm to 465 nm near the degenerate point of a 405-nm pumped type-I BBO non-collinearly phase-matched optical parametric amplifier (NOPA). The tunable UV/blue radiation is obtained from sum frequency generation (SFG) between the OPA output and the residual fundamental beam at 810-nm and cascaded second harmonic generation (SHG) of OPA. With a pumping energy of 75 mJ at 405 nm, the optical conversion efficiency from the pump to the tunable SFG is more than 5% and the efficiency of SHG of the OPA is about 2%.

  • Patent number: 5460254
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bicycle freehub having a hub body, an axle and a sprocket coupling. The axle is coaxially disposed in the hub body which has a spindle, two flanges and two ring ends. One of the ring ends has a receiving cavity and the other ring end has a bearing receiving recess. The receiving cavity provides a ratchet ring which has an outer rim and a plurality of ratchets provided along its inner circumference. The sprocket coupling has a cylindrical pawl driver at one end. The pawl driver further provides at least two recesses on its circumference for retaining two pawls thereon respectively and an annular groove along its outer periphery fpr receiving a coil spring to hold the two pawls in position. The sprocket coupling is connected with the hub body by inserting the pawl driver into the receiving cavity coaxially, thus the pawls are engaged with the ratchets for enabling said sprocket coupling to drive the hub body in a direction but is free to rotate in the other direction.
