  • Publication number: 20080087313
Abstract: A structure that is foldable and expandable to support a canopy when a covering is placed on top of the framework includes a plurality of upright supports and a plurality of edge scissor assemblies that interconnect adjacent ones of the upright supports. Mounting brackets are disposed on the upright supports and also between scissor assemblies to fasten outer, end portions of the edge scissor assemblies together or to the upright supports. The mounting brackets each have a plurality of unique single side wall sockets each including a means for limiting torsional twisting of the scissor assemblies fastened in the socket. The limiting means comprises a complementary groove or rib for matingly engaging, in a complementary fashion, a complementary rib or groove, respectively, formed on the end of the scissor member received in the socket and secured therein with a pivot pin.

  • Publication number: 20060062632
Abstract: A release pin assembly for locking telescoping poles of a tent or canopy or the like. The assembly friction fits along the telescoping poles and includes a spring biased release pin which extends into aligned holes in the poles. The pin is coupled to a quick release lever which is pivoted from a first position where the pin extends into locking engagement with the holes to a second position out of locking engagement with the poles allowing the same to be extended to different positions.

  • Patent number: 6152157
Abstract: A one-touch assembling collapsible tent frame is disclosed. In the tent frame, the pole ribs are quickly coupled to the tent frame through a one-touch motion. The tent frame is stably supported on the ground since the interval between the lower portions of side poles is wider than that of the upper portions when fully stretching the frame. The tent frame has a slider locking means capable of allowing a slider to be easily and safely locked to or released from a side pole. A tension adjusting means is provided at the center pole for selectively adjusting the spring force of a center pole spring at the outside of the center pole. The center pole thus tightly and stably stretches and sustains the roof of a canvas or other material of the tent and improves the appearance of the tent even when pitching the tent in the wind.

  • Patent number: 5944040
Abstract: A collapsible tent frame is disclosed. The tent frame has a center pole used for stretching and sustaining a tent's roof when pitching a tent. A plurality of side poles are coupled to each other through a plurality of scissor-type ribs, with upper ends of the ribs being hinged to connectors provided at top ends of the side poles and lower ends of the ribs being hinged to sliders movably fitted over the side poles. The center pole is coupled to the connectors of the side poles through a plurality of center pole ribs. The above center pole ribs individually consist of two rib members, which are coupled to each other through a hinge joint. Each of the center pole ribs is also hinged to the slider of an associated side pole through a support link, thus being collapsible at the hinge joint in accordance with a sliding motion of the slider along the side pole.

  • Patent number: 5794640
Abstract: A quick assembly tent framework is disclosed. In the framework, each of mounts has a channel type socket. The socket is eccentrically formed on each mount with thick and thin sidewalls being formed on opposite sides of the socket. Each of the thick and thin sidewalls has a hinge bore and a hinge guide depression. Two connection members are attached to both ends of each scissor bar. Each of the connection members is axially slitted to a depth thus forming a channel type slit with resilient sidewalls being formed on opposite sides of the slit. Each of the resilient sidewalls has a boss on its outside surface. The boss is guided by the guide depression and elastically snapped into the hinge bore when each scissor bar is jointed to an associated mount. The framework is easily and quickly assembled or disassembled without using any tools thus being convenient to users.
