  • Patent number: 6129555
Abstract: A connector assembly used for balanced transmission includes a jack connector and a card-edge plug connector. The jack connector includes a plurality of pairs of jack-type signal contact elements arranged parallel to each other in an array, a plurality of jack-type ground plate elements arranged alternately with said plurality of pairs of jack-type signal contact elements in said array, a jack-type insulating body made of an electrically insulating material and jack-type ground contact element. The card-edge plug connector includes a plurality of pairs of plug-type signal pads, a plurality of slits arranged alternately with said plurality of pairs of plug-type signal pads, at least one plug-type ground layer and a plurality of signal patterns each extending from a respective one of said plug-type signal pads. The connector assembly has a strip-line structure. Also, virtual ground planes are created at a region between each pair of the plurality of pairs of plug-type signal pads.

  • Patent number: 5997315
Abstract: A connector which connects an IC card to a corresponding information input/output unit without cable and can be removed as needed has a structure in which a plurality of U-shaped conductive pieces formed of a sheet metal are fixed to a rectangular-rod-like insulating block. Each conductive piece has a central portion fixed to a corresponding notched portion formed in a side surface of the insulating block, a first contact portion extending from the central portion in one direction and bent at an almost right angle along the lower surface of the insulating block, and a second contact portion extending from the central portion in an opposite direction, held to be elastically deformed in a groove formed in the upper surface of the insulating block, and including an end portion projecting from the upper surface. As an embodiment, the following structure is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5860814
Abstract: An electric connector for interconnecting printed circuit boards including a plug and a jack. Each of the plug and the jack includes an insulating housing including an insulating base and a pair of parallel external walls standing on the front surface of the insulating base. The jack further includes an insulating internal wall standing on the front surface of the insulating base which is parallel to, and in the middle of, a pair of the parallel walls. One embodiment of the present invention is a row of parallel blade signal contacts and a leaf spring ground contact arranged on the outer and the inner surfaces of each parallel wall of the plug, respectively, and a row of parallel leaf spring signal contacts and a blade ground contact arranged on the inner surface of each parallel wall and on each surface of the internal insulating wall of the jack, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5618202
Abstract: A connector for coaxial cables in the form of three flat cables. The coaxial cables are arranged in the cable holder in three rows, so that bared signal conductors extend straight from the cable holder in the insulating body of the connector and ground conductors or ground wires remain in the cable holder. The connector includes wide ground contacts which are inserted in the cable holder to contact the ground conductors or ground wires of the coaxial cables under pressure, and three rows of signal contacts to which bared ends of signal conductors of the coaxial cables are soldered. Three rows of signal contacts are supported by three parallel support plates, respectively. The ground contacts are arranged between first and second rows of the signal contacts and between second and third rows of the signal contacts. A ground shell surrounds the signal contacts whereby a multi-layer strip line structure is formed.
