  • Patent number: 6148051
Abstract: The present invention includes an interface apparatus in a node of a communication network for synchronizing internal time data of the node to reference time data of the communication network during transfer of a data train having a time-sequential arrangement through the communication network. The interface includes a receiving device that receives the reference time data transmitted from another node such that the reference time data has a first time resolution to maintain the time-sequential arrangement of the data train. An internal oscillating circuit generates a clock signal to provide a second time resolution, and a counting device counts the clock signal having the second time resolution to successively produce count data having a higher order bit part, which corresponds to the reference time data, and a lower order bit part.

  • Patent number: 6026169
Abstract: A sound image localization device includes a delay circuit and a multiplier which cooperate to cause a time difference and an amplitude difference between left and right channel audio signals. One of the channel audio signals is inverted in phase. The channel audio signals thus having a time difference and an amplitude difference, with one of them being inverted in phase, are amplified by an amplifier and outputted through left and right loudspeakers as sound, whereby a sound image formed by the audio signals can be localized at a rearward position with respect to the listener.

  • Patent number: 5982828
Abstract: There is provided a data transfer system over a plurality of nodes each having an internal oscillating circuit to generate a clock signal. The plurality of the nodes are connected to one another through a communication network and operate asynchronously with one another according to the respective clock signals. One of the nodes supplies a synchronization signal indicative of a reference time to the communication network. The plurality of the nodes include a transmitting node that transmits a train of data having a time-sequential arrangement together with time data indicative of a time lag relative to the reference time, and a receiving node that receives the train of dada together with the time data by which synchronous communication of the train of data can be ensured between the transmitting node and the receiving node.

  • Patent number: 5867497
Abstract: A network system is logically established according to path information to circulate a data throughout a complex of electronic equipments which are communicably connected to one another. Each electronic equipment has at least either of a receiver port which receives a data and a transmitter port which transmits a data. The path information is effective to enable a primary electronic equipment having a receiver port to identify a secondary electronic equipment having a corresponding transmitter port. The primary electronic equipment opens a logical path of the data connecting between its own receiver port and the corresponding transmitter port of the secondary electronic equipment according to the provided path information to thereby enable circulation of the data throughout the complex of the electronic equipments.

  • Patent number: 5691495
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument comprises a sequencer which acts as an automatic performance apparatus, so the sequencer provides automatic performance data in a MIDI-standard form. Upon receipt of MIDI data from the sequencer, the electronic musical instrument generates musical tones automatically. In a normal tone-generation mode, the musical tones are sequentially and automatically generated at appropriate timings. A sync-tone-generation mode is further provided to perform sync tone-generation. The sync-tone-generation mode is activated by indicator data (or delimiter code) which are transmitted together with specific MIDI data corresponding to musical tones which should be subjected to sync tone-generation. Each MIDI data normally consists of one status byte and two data bytes, while a running status function is employed in the sync-tone-generation mode so that the specific MIDI data are transmitted with omitting a status byte (or status bytes).

  • Patent number: 5652400
Abstract: A musical network system has a plurality of musical equipments interconnected to each other through a communication network which circulates a control message for producing a musical sound. One musical equipment has a transmitter for transmitting a control message to the communication network. Another musical equipment has a receiver for receiving the control message from the communication network. An internal tone generator operates according to the received control message for producing a musical sound. A detector detects whether the received control message is a right one which may not disturb operation of the generator means or a wrong one which may disturb operation of the generator means. A transmitter returns an error message to the one musical equipment through the communication network when the detector detects that the received control message is the wrong one.

  • Patent number: 5517892
Abstract: In order to use a plenty of waveform data, representing sampling waveforms of sounds produced from musical instruments, an electronic musical instrument provides a hard disk unit. Herein, musical tone information containing the waveform data is registered into the hard disk unit in the form of a file using a specific file name. When registering the file into the hard disk unit, a string of characters representing a musical property of the musical tone information are automatically created and are used as a part of the file name. Each file name incorporates an identifier made of one or more characters. When a new file name, which is automatically created and is assigned to a new file to be newly registered into the hard disk unit, coincides with the existing file name of the file which has been already registered in the hard disk unit, a new identifier is automatically created and is incorporated into the new file name.

  • Patent number: 5440639
Abstract: A sound localization control apparatus is used to localize the sounds, which can be produced from a synthesizer and the like, at a target sound-image location. The target sound-image location is intentionally located in a three-dimensional space which is formed around a listener who listens to the sounds. The sound localization control apparatus at least provides a controller, a plurality of sound-directing devices and an allocating unit. The controller produces a distance parameter and a direction parameter with respect to the target sound-image location. The allocating unit allocates acoustic data (e.g., two-channel binaural signals), representing the sounds to be localized, to the sound-directing devices in response to the distance parameter and the direction parameter. Each of the sound-directing devices is applied with each of predetermined sounding directions which are arranged in a horizontal plane with respect to the listener.

  • Patent number: 5384851
Abstract: A sound localization control apparatus controls localization of sound which is perceived by listeners by carrying out a signal processing on left and right channels binaural audio signals supplied thereto and supplying the resulting signals to left and right loudspeakers. In the apparatus, a matrix, determined based on a transfer function from the loudspeakers to left and right ears of the listener, is multiplied to the left and right channels audio signals. In order to determine the matrix, the matrix is determined for account of four paths including the two noncrossing main paths formed between the loudspeakers and the left and right ears of the listener and the remaining two "cross-talk" paths cross each other.
