  • Publication number: 20050223166
Abstract: A CHN comprises NAS memory capable of storing data received from a host terminal, and a transfer destination decision circuit. When an access request is received from the host terminal, if the access request is a data access request entailing data transfer performed between the host terminal and a cache area, and if a cache address associated with a file system address included in the data access request is identified, the transfer destination decision circuit transfers the data for reading in the cache area indicated by the cache address directly to the host terminal without passing through the NAS memory, or transfers data for writing included in the access request to the cache area without passing through the NAS memory.

  • Publication number: 20050223015
Abstract: A communication apparatus is connected to a terminal apparatus via a network. The communication apparatus includes a storage that stores a document file and an HTML file of a user setting page. A file manager stores a storage period for the document file, determines whether or not the document file has been stored in the storage for the storage period, and deletes the document file when the document file has been stored in the storage for the storage period. A web server transmits, to the terminal apparatus, the HTML file of the user setting page, the user setting page configured so that a user at the terminal apparatus can request a change of the storage period. The web server further instructs the file manager to change the storage period, when the user requests the change of the storage period.

  • Publication number: 20050198436
Abstract: A first storage control system comprises a CHN connected to a LAN CN. The CHN comprises a NAS processor and I/O processor. The I/O processor judges whether all or a portion of block level data is to be stored in either a first storage control system or a second storage control system, on the basis of an I/O allocation control data which indicates which of either the first storage control system or the second storage control system the block level data is to be stored in. On the basis of the result of this judgment, the I/O processor transfers the block level data from the NAS processor, to at least one of the DKA and the CHF connected to the second storage control system.

  • Publication number: 20050067777
Abstract: A paper handling apparatus is disclosed, having a first path that guides paper to a processing tray; a second path in which the paper is set aside; and a transportation unit that transports the paper. The paper handling apparatus sets aside a preceding sheet of the paper in the second path, and transports the set-aside preceding sheet of the paper with a following sheet of the paper. The paper handling unit includes: a branching unit that, when the paper is transported in the second direction, leads the paper to the second path; a paper detection unit provided in a more upstream position than the branching unit; and a control unit that determines timing in which the paper is transported in the second direction based on an output of the paper detection unit, and causes the transportation unit to transport the paper to the second path.

  • Publication number: 20040256783
Abstract: A copy machine achieves a reduction in power consumption when performing a saddle-stitching operation. An image forming unit forms visible images on recording sheets in accordance with image data stored in a memory device. A post-processing unit collects the recording media on an individual copy basis to prepare a bundle of the recording sheets, and performs a saddle-stitching process and a center-folding process on the bundle of the recording sheets. The post-processing unit ejects the processed recording sheets onto a predetermined eject tray. A system control part determines whether or not a total number of the recording sheets corresponding to the image data is within a limit number for the saddle-stitching process. When the total number of the recording sheets exceeds the limit number for the saddle-stitching process, the recording sheets are ejected onto the at least one eject tray other than a predetermined eject tray.

  • Publication number: 20040104525
Abstract: A sheet folding device for folding a sheet or a sheet stack conveyed thereto of the present invention includes a path along which the sheet or the sheet stack to be folded is conveyed. A fold plate is movable in a direction perpendicular to the above path for forming a fold in the sheet or the sheet stack. A pair of rotatable fold rollers face the fold plate and are positioned one above the other. Pressing members exerts, when the fold is to be formed, a pair of equal pressing forces on the fold rollers to thereby maintain the nip between the fold rollers on a line including the locus of movement of the fold plate.
