    Abstract: An input device includes a flexible base, a sensor member that is provided on the surface of the flexible base and can detect the operation position of a finger, connection portions that are provided on a back of the flexible base, a printed circuit board of which an area is smaller than the area of the flexible base and which includes terminal portions on the surface thereof facing the back, and an electronic component that is mounted on a surface of the printed circuit board opposite to the surface of the printed circuit board on which the terminal portions are provided and is electrically connected to the terminal portions. The flexible base and the printed circuit board are bonded to each other with an adhesion layer interposed therebetween so that the connection portions come into contact with the terminal portions.

    Abstract: An input device contains a resistance-element series formed by series-connected resistance elements, low resistors opposing the resistance elements, an operating object which brings one of the low resistors into contact with one of the resistance elements and changes the contact area therebetween, an output point at the midpoint between resistance elements, and a controller. When the resistance element and low resistor are not in contact, the input device enters a sleep mode in which the resistance-element series or low resistors have a high potential and the other a low potential. In the sleep mode, determination that the operating object has been operated occurs when a change in voltage or current on the low potential side is detected. A voltage is applied across ends of the resistance-element series, and the device enters a detection mode in which the output is based on the contact area change.

    Abstract: A coordinate input device includes a flat substrate portion, a plurality of strain gauges formed on one surface of the substrate portion, an operating portion disposed at about the center of the other surface of the substrate portion, and a printed board on which one surface of the substrate portion is mounted. Since a portion of the printed board opposing the strain gauges has a through hole, it is thereby opened. Therefore, even when the substrate portion is bent by tilting the operating portion, the strain gauges will not touch the printed board.     Abstract: A transmitting and receiving processing section sequentially sends data which includes a communication command to each controller. When each controller receives the data, it sends back data which includes an operation signal to the transmitting and receiving processing section. During a period when the transmitting and receiving processing section communicates with a machine body, the transmitting and receiving processing section sends a dummy signal. When a controller receives the dummy signal, it does not send back an operation signal, but operates so as to set a receiving mode for the next time slot. Therefore, even during a busy period when the transmitting and receiving processing section is busy, data transmission and receiving is performed between the transmitting and receiving processing section and each controller. Since each controller is made to enter a short receiving mode during the busy period, the power consumption of the controller is reduced.

The thermal transfer device is capable of providing good quality printing at all times as a result of forming the transferring portion of the transfer sheet by printing, followed by thermal transfer of the transferring portion onto the member being an optical recording medium.
