  • Publication number: 20060110114
Abstract: A manufacturing method of an optical waveguide is disclosed, the optical waveguide transmitting an optical signal between a luminous source and an optical receiver. The optical waveguide is structured by forming a lower clad layer, a core section, and an upper clad layer one by one on a substrate; by forming a first slot and a second slot each dividing the core section from the side of the upper clad layer that is not connected to the substrate; and by forming a metal film in the first and second slots such that a first mirror and a second mirror are formed.

  • Patent number: 7029185
Abstract: An optical chip module has an optical chip on an element forming face with a light emitting or a light receiving element and terminals for electrical connection with the element and an optical fiber optically bonded to the element with its end face abutting the element. The outer circumference of the optical fiber has interconnect patterns extending from the end face, and in the axial direction, of the optical fiber and electrically connected with the terminals. Terminals of the optical chip are connected with the interconnect patterns at the end face of the optical fiber, intersecting circumferential lines of the end face of the optical fiber abutting against the element forming face and bonded thereto.

  • Publication number: 20050007503
Abstract: Provided are a projector capable of correcting a polarization state properly and improving image quality, a retardation plate being used in a projector or the like and being capable of correcting a polarization state properly, and a method of placing a retardation plate. A quarter-wave plate (22) is placed between a reflective spatial light modulator (21) and a PBS (20). The quarter-wave plate (22) includes a combination of a first retardation plate (41) and a second retardation plate (42) each producing a different phase difference. The phase differences produced by two retardation plates (41), (42) are set to be suitable amounts of phase difference according to a position state, so in spite of the fact that the quarter-wave plate (22) including the combination of two retardation plates, the quarter-wave plate (22) can correct the polarization state properly with performance equal to or higher than that in the case where the quarter-wave plate includes a single plate.

  • Patent number: 6089717
Abstract: A small-sized and light-weight projector apparatus capable of projecting images of high picture quality. A color separation/synthesis section of a projector apparatus includes a glass block body composed of a plurality of glass blocks combined together in such a manner that the corresponding sides are in close contact with each other; and a plurality of dielectric multilayer films for separating corresponding component rays of white light included in incident light and for synthesizing emitted rays from a plurality of corresponding spatial modulators.

  • Patent number: 5148285
Abstract: An image display apparatus having light beam sources for generating light beams, an optical modulator for modulating the light beams by image signals to be projected, a deflection device for deflecting the modulated light beams, the deflection device including a polygon mirror and an auxiliary reflection mirror provided near the polygon mirror such that the modulated light beams are reflected from the polygon mirror to said auxiliary reflection means and back toward the polygon mirror, a device for supplying the modulated light beams to the polygon mirror with predetermined angles relative to a rotational plane of the polygon mirror, such that the modulated light beams incident upon the polygon miror are reflected a plurality of times by the polygon mirror, and a projection device for projecting the modulated and deflected light beams from the deflection device on a screen or the like.

  • Patent number: 5044710
Abstract: A laser beam deflection apparatus is comprised of a polygon mirror having a plurality of reflection surfaces, a laser beam incident on the reflection surfaces of the polygon mirror, and n number of reflection devices positioned in facing relation to the polygon mirror, and aligned in a rotational direction of the polygon mirror for reflecting the laser beam reflected from one of the reflection surfaces back towards the one of the reflection surfaces of the polygon mirror, whereby the laser beam is twice reflected by the one of the reflection surfaces and is deflected through a predetermined angle n times during each predetermined increment of rotation of the plurality of reflection surfaces of the polygon mirror.
