  • Patent number: 8338557
Abstract: Olefin polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution and specific molecular weight, olefin polymer having functional group introduced at terminal, tapered polymer containing segment wherein monomer composition continuously changes in the polymer chain, olefin polymer having different segments bonded to each other, and process for preparing these polymers. The olefin polymers are polymers of C2-20 carbon atom olefins and have a number-average molecular weight of ?500 and Mw/Mn of ?1.5. In syntheses, an olefin of 2-20 carbon atoms is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound represented by the formula LmMXn wherein M is a transition metal atom of Group 3-11, m is 1-5, n is a number satisfying a valence of M, L is a ligand—coordinated to the central metal M—which contains a heteroatom having no direct bond to the central metal, and X is e.g. halogen or a hydrocarbon.

  • Patent number: 7932327
Abstract: Provided is a process which can be carried out upon the production of a polyurethane/thiourethane-based resin with the use of a polyisocyanate compound, a polyol compound, and a polythiol compound, without causing abrupt heat generation or viscosity increase. At least one polyol compound having at least one ether bond and two or more hydroxy groups in a molecule is used as the polyol compound, whereby a large heat generation or an abrupt viscosity increase are prevented from occurring upon blending monomer.

  • Patent number: 7915358
Abstract: Copolymers when used as lubricating oil viscosity modifiers enable lubricating oils to show excellent low-temperature properties. Processes for producing the copolymers are disclosed. Lubricating oil viscosity modifiers and lubricating oil compositions contain the copolymers. A copolymer includes structural units derived from ethylene and structural units derived from a C3-20 ?-olefin and satisfies the following requirements (1) to (8): (1) the melting point (Tm) according to DSC is in the range of 0 to 60° C.; (2) the melting point (Tm) and the density D (g/cm3) satisfy the equation: Tm?1073×D?893; (3) Mw/Mn according to GPC is from 1.6 to 5.0; (4) the half-value width (?Thalf) of a melting peak measured by DSC is not more than 90° C.; (5) the half-value width (?Thalf) and the melting point (Tm) satisfy the equation: ?Thalf??0.71×Tm+101.4; (6) the heat of fusion (?H) as measured by DSC is not more than 60 J/g; (7) the crystallization temperature (Tc) measured by DSC is not more than 70° C.
