  • Publication number: 20050018285
Abstract: A clear image unaffected by the brightness of the projection environment. The projection screen according to the present invention is a projection screen for projecting thereupon narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light to display an image, and comprises an optical thin film (3) which has high reflection properties regarding the narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light, and has high transmission properties regarding at least visible wavelength band light other than the wavelength band light, on a screen base (2). With the projection screen according to the present invention configured as above, the optical thin film (3) serves as a so-called band filter. That is to say, the optical thin film (3) particularly reflects narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light and transmits light of other wavelengths, thereby functioning as a narrow-band tricolor wavelength bandwidth filter acting to separate these.

  • Patent number: 6822705
Abstract: Provided are a reflective liquid crystal display and a light guide plate capable of eliminating a decline in virtual contrast properties of a display screen in a reflective liquid crystal display comprising a light guide plate with a prism unit so as to display an excellent image. An antireflective film (40) is formed on a planar surface of a light guide plate (50) which is disposed so as to face a viewing side of a liquid crystal display panel (10). The antireflective film (40) inhibits light reflection on the planar surface of the light guide plate (50). Moreover, an adhesive layer (51) is provided to improve the adhesion of the antireflective film (40) to the planar surface of the light guide plate (50).

  • Patent number: 6733821
Abstract: A method for forming an optical component includes (i) depositing optical layers on a base, and (ii) controlling a thickness of a tuning layer by (a) depositing the tuning layer on the optical layers, (b) measuring a first optical characteristic, (c) measuring a second optical characteristic after continued deposition of the tuning layer, (d) determining whether the second optical characteristic has decreased compared to the first optical characteristic, (e) when the second optical characteristic has not decreased, continuing deposition of the tuning layer and returning to steps (ii)(b)-(e), when the second optical characteristic has decreased, terminating the depositing and removing a portion of the tuning layer formed during a period of time defined from when an increase/decrease of the second optical characteristic is stopped to when the second optical characteristic is changed to be decreased, and (f) adding a layer of a lower refractive index on the tuning layer.

  • Publication number: 20040061935
Abstract: A projection screen includes a plurality of convex portions serving as a light diffusion control portion, on the surface of a substrate. An optical thin film overlies the substrate and has convex portions having the same shape as that of the convex portions of the substrate. When external light enters the optical thin film with light in three primary color wavelength bands, the optical thin film reflects only the light in the three color wavelength bands and absorbs at least visible light of the external light. When light in the three primary color wavelength bands perpendicularly enters the optical thin film, the rays of the light have incident angles at the convex portions of the optical thin film and diffuse-reflected at angles twice the incident angles. Thus, a predetermined percentage of the light is diffused to increase the viewing angle of the screen.

  • Patent number: 5527377
Abstract: Conductivity distribution on the cross section of metal or alloy is measured by an eddy current type conductivity meter and conductivity distribution contour map is prepared. Based on the pattern of this conductivity distribution contour map, heat history of an ingot and segregation of added element are analyzed and melting and/or casting conditions of metal or alloy are re-established. This method allows to carry out the testing and analysis within short time and quickly provides assessment results for re-establishment of melting and/or casting conditions. Thereby, metal or alloy ingots which may create poor quality products during the following steps can be eliminated; in particular, applying this method to a manufacturing of copper precipitation hardening alloy and the like, more sound ingots can be obtained and suitability of ingots for the material which should be worked in the following step can be assessed.
