  • Patent number: 5762904
Abstract: Polymerized liposomes, methods of preparing the polymerized liposomes and incorporating biologically active substances within the polymerized liposomes, and methods of administering polymerized liposomes containing a biologically active substance to be delivered to a patient are disclosed. The polymerized liposomes are prepared by polymerizing double bond-containing liposomes. The polymerization can be initiated with a source of radiation and/or a free radical initiator. Biologically active substances can be incorporated into both the hydrophilic and hydrophobic layers of the liposomes, either during or after polymerization. The polymerized liposomes can be administered orally to a patient in need of the biologically active substance to be delivered. Examples demonstrate enhanced stability.

  • Patent number: 5729804
Abstract: An endless toner transport which connects a developing device with a cleaning device is disposed so as to pass through these devices in their respective longitudinal directions. The mixing of toner can be enhanced by returning recovered toner to the developing device and by supplying fresh toner to the cleaning device by using the toner transport itself, whereby the reuse of recovered toner and the reduction of the quantity of fresh toner used can be conducted more effectively. In the processes of transporting toner from the developing device to the cleaning device and from the cleaning device to the developing device, toner can effectively be stirred and mixed by utilizing oscillation or the like generated in the endless toner transport which can be in the form of a coil spring so that an additional stirring member is not required, thereby allowing the developing device, and hence the entire image forming apparatus, to be greatly reduced in size.

  • Patent number: 5020444
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement in a method and an apparatus for magnetic levitation of a linear slider through a PI control action. When the slider is horizontally moved while levitated vertically by two fixed magnetic forces, the angle of inclination of the slider cannot be settled in a preset position because of a control delay caused by integral action, which results in an angle offset. In order to eliminate the offset, a signal which is the sum of an angle deviation and a delay compensation signal that is proportional to the product of the velocity of the slider and an integral time is used as an error signal to settle the angle of inclination. The vertical position of the slider is controlled so that the sum of the magnetic forces applied to the slider balances the weight of the slider.

  • Patent number: 4806955
Abstract: An ink-on-demand type ink jet printer includes a printer head having at least one nozzle, pressure chamber and means for pressurizing an ink in the pressure chamber so as to effect ejection of an ink droplet from a nozzle to effect printing during a printing operation. The printer further includes a pump for pressurizing an ink in the printer head and a pump driver for driving the pump continuously for a predetermined period of time after the printing operation has ceased during which a small amount of ink is partially ejected from the nozzle. A nozzle cover is provided for selectively covering the nozzle, with the nozzle cover moving to cover the nozzle during the predetermined period of time when the pump driving means is operating while ink is partially ejected from the nozzle to prevent ink clogging during a no-print condition after the printing operation has ceased.

  • Patent number: 4420764
Abstract: An ink jet printer head for printing dots on demand on a recording medium has ink flow paths formed in a substrate. The ink paths include a pressure chamber, supply path and nozzle for discharging ink droplets, the nozzle terminating in an external front face of the printer head. A piezoelectric element acting on the pressure chamber to reduce chamber volume, causes an ink droplet to be ejected. Ink flow in the paths is perpendicular to the displacement of the piezoelectric element. The front face of the printer head is adapted to contour the ink layer which forms on the front face at rapid printing rates to assure that the droplets are ejected along a line which is a linear, parallel extension of the longitudinal nozzle axis. The design principles are applicable to printer heads having single or double rows of nozzles.
