    Abstract: An optical pickup includes an objective lens which converges light on an optical disc, a lens holder to which the objective lens is attached, a focusing coil and a tracking coil wound around the lens holder, magnets arranged to face two side faces of the lens holder parallel to a radial direction of the optical disc, supporting members which support the lens holder, and supporting member fixation parts provided on two side faces of the lens holder orthogonal to the radial direction of the optical disc. The focusing coil is wound on parts of the lens holder on both sides of the lens holder in regard to the radial direction of the optical disc so that each portion of the focusing coil on each side is wound around a winding central axis extending in a direction parallel to the optical axis of the objective lens.

The metal plate has two rising members bended to the case side at both ends in the direction between the bearings. Two walls of the outer hull of an opening of the case at both ends in the direction between the bearings and the two rising members of the metal plate are alternately opposed, and the opposed walls of the case and the rising members of the metal plate are fixed using adhesives.

    Abstract: To improve the reliability to an environmental temperature change of an optical pickup, an optical pickup 7 has a semiconductor laser 711 for generating a laser beam. An objective lens drive leads the laser beam to a predetermined position of a disk. The semiconductor laser and objective lens drive are mounted on a pickup hosing 70. The objective lens drive has a movable portion 74 and the movable portion has an objective lens 716 for condensing the laser beam on the recording face of the disk. A fixed portion 72 holds the movable portion through a support member. The fixed portion has a magnetic yoke 75. An extended portion formed by extending a part of the yoke to the fixed portion side and the upside 72b of a cutout formed at the intermediate portion of the fixed portion in the tracking direction are adhered and fixed.

    Abstract: In an objective lens driving means of an optical pickup, the accuracy of the boundary position of magnets is improved, the generation of angular moment through coils is suppressed, and the inclination of the objective lens is reduced. An optical pickup for reading or writing information on an optical disc using an objective lens includes a lens holder for holding an objective lens, three magnets disposed facing to each of the two sides of the lens holder that are parallel to the focusing direction and the tracking direction, and a yoke for mounting these magnets. The yoke includes a central yoke surface for mounting the central one of the three magnets, and outer yoke surfaces for mounting the outer two of the three magnets. A step is formed between the central yoke surface and each of the outer yoke surfaces.
