  • Patent number: 5821965
Abstract: Considering the differential pressure .DELTA.P between pressures applied to both faces of a meniscus formation member, the differential pressure .DELTA.P becomes the maximum when an ink supply unit is left standing with the meniscus formation member placed upward. At this time, water head PH of ink attempting to fall due to gravity is applied to the inner face of the meniscus formation member in the same direction as negative pressure PR of a capillary member. Thus, the differential pressure .DELTA.P becomes .DELTA.P=PR+PH. The bubble point pressure PB of the meniscus formation member is set greater than the maximum value of the differential pressure, .DELTA.P=PR+PH, whereby air does not enter an ink tank through the meniscus formation member.

  • Patent number: 5760806
Abstract: An ink supply device for use in an ink jet printer comprising a main ink chamber in communication through a communication hole with a sub-ink chamber containing an ink absorbing member therein. A meniscus film forming member covering the communication hole and communicating the main ink chamber with the sub-ink chamber; the member having a first surface facing the interior of the main ink chamber and an opposite second surface. An ink guide member extending into a lower portion of the main chamber and also being in contact with the first surface of the film forming member, wherein as ink in the main ink chamber is consumed a differential pressure between the first and second surfaces of the film forming member causes a gradual expansion of a liquid meniscus film into an air bubble on the film forming member to maintain a constant negative pressure in the main ink chamber.

  • Patent number: 5712563
Abstract: A displacement detector for enabling a precise detection of a displaced quantity of the core. The displacement detector is provided with a displaceable core, a detecting coil the inductance of which varies in response to a displaced quantity and a reference resistor, wherein a transient response voltage in case of a pulse voltage being applied to the inductance and the reference resistor is detected to enable detection of the absolute value of the inductance and thereby the change in the inductance which corresponds to the displaced quantity is detected independently of the peak value or the frequency of the pulse voltage. The displacement detector is preferably used in a torque sensor for an electric powered steering system, wherein the core of the displacement detector is formed of nonmagnetic metal material, the structure is simple, and a sensitive detection of a displaced quantity of the steering torque is possible.

  • Patent number: 5515736
Abstract: An arrangement for compensating the thermal characteristics of a sensor including a core movable from a neutral position in two directions along a line and two detecting coils symmetrically disposed along the line with the neutral position placed at the center of symmetry, in which sensor a change in the inductance of the two detecting coils due to the movement thereof is electrically detected, the arrangement being adapted so that the numbers of wire turns in the two detecting coils are set different to compensate a mechanically produced change in the thermal characteristics of the sensor. The arrangement allows a mechanical positional difference between the detecting coils and the core due to a temperature change to be compensated and an output voltage drift due to a temperature change to be reduced, thus increasing sensor accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4887188
Abstract: A connector for receiving a memory card employs a power supply switching mechanism, a memory card ejecting mechanism and a memory card lock mechanism. A connector body on which a plurality of connecting terminals to be connected with the memory card is mounted has a one piece structure with a pair of guide arms for slidably guiding the memory card. One of the guide arms is formed with a groove, where power supply terminal electrodes and a switching member are attached. An actuating member with a locking member and an actuator with an ejector member are also attached to the connector body. Operation of the actuating member is accompanied with the movements of the locking member, the switching member and the actuator. Movement of the locking member causes the memory card to lock, the switching member switches on the power supply, and the actuator serves to eject a card.
