  • Patent number: 5244996
Abstract: A random copolymer of an .alpha.-olefin having 4 to 12 carbon atoms with an aromatic vinyl monomer containing 50 to 98% by mol of .alpha.-olefin and having a softening point of 40.degree. to 150.degree. C. is useful as a hot-melt adhesive and is excellent in adhesiveness, workability, environmental aging resistances such as thermal aging resistance. The copolymer is combined with 70 to 10% by weight of a tackifier for the whole so that it can be used as a hot-melt adhesive or a heat sealant.

  • Patent number: 5118586
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there are provided photo-recording media comprising photochromic compounds having been dispersed or dissolved in stretched films or nematic liquid crystals, the transition moment of light absorption of said photochromic compounds being orientated in a definite direction. In the photo-recording media as provided, an information recorded in the photochromic compounds can be read out without destroying the same.

  • Patent number: 4931526
Abstract: An .alpha.-olefinic random copolymer containing an .alpha.-olefin component having 5 to 10 carbon atoms and an .alpha.,.omega.-nonconjugated diene component having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, and optionally, a straight .alpha.-olefin component having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, wherein the copolymer comprises:(i) 70 to 99.9% by weight of a recurring unit (a) derived from the .alpha.-olefin, 0.1 to 30% by weight of a recurring unit (b) derived from the .alpha.,.omega.-nonconjugated diene and 0 to 20% by weight of a recurring unit (c) derived from the straight .alpha.-olefin component;(ii) an inherent viscosity [.eta.] measured in decalin at 135.degree. C. of from 0.5 to 10 dl/g;(iii) a crystallinity [Xc] measured by the X-ray diffraction method of from 0 to 50%;(iv) a glass transition temperature [Tg] of from 30.degree. to 60.degree. C.; and(v) an iodine value of from 0 to 10.

  • Patent number: 4798866
Abstract: A branched alpha-olefinic polymer composition having excellent melt flowability, good moldability and excellent melt tension and comprising at least two branched alpha-olefinic polymers each composed of (A) recurring units derived from a branched alpha-olefin containing 5 to 10 carbon atoms and having a branch at the 3-position or a position of a higher number and (B) recurring units derived from a linear alpha-olefin containing 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and a process for producing this polymer composition by a multiplicity of polymerization steps using a catalyst formed from (A) a highly stereoregular titanium catalyst component comprising magnesium, titanium, halogen and an electron donor as essential ingredient, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C) an electron donor.

  • Patent number: 4792588
Abstract: A polyethylene composition having excellent melt moldability which substantially comprises an ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene having a molecular weight of, for example, at least about 1,650,000 and a low-molecular-weight to high-molecular-weight polyethylene having a molecular weight of, for example, about 1500 to about 360,000. The composition is produced by a multi-stage polymerization process involving a step of producing the ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene and a step of producing the low-molecular-weight to high-molecular-weight polyethylene.
