  • Publication number: 20040125407
Abstract: This invention has as its object to allow a print system having a middle insert print function to insert an index sheet without billing for it. According to a preferred embodiment, when it is set to insert an index sheet, a print application (305) executes a non-billing command transmission preparation process (step S603). Upon completion of the preparation process, the print application transmits a non-billing command to a printer (step S604). The print application then executes an index sheet output process (step S606). The printer excludes the index sheet from sheets to be billed in accordance with the received non-billing command.

  • Publication number: 20040107855
Abstract: This invention relates to a printing control method and apparatus, a computer program product, and the like in which printing data is held in a hierarchical structure and a printing job is issued to a printer to cause the printer to print. In the printing control method according to the present invention, different setting values can be set in the lower and upper layers of the hierarchical structure as printing setting data containing double-sided printing or single-sided printing setting. When a setting value different from that of the upper layer is set in the lower layer of the hierarchical structure, the printer is instructed on a setting in the lower layer for each printing data to which the setting value is applied.

  • Publication number: 20040111675
Abstract: This invention relates to a document processing apparatus and method for a structured document formed by grouping original pages. The document processing apparatus according to this invention controls display of the image objects of either or both of a document structure and an original page contained in the document. The document processing apparatus includes an editor which edits the document so as to insert a new group containing a designated original page to a designated position in accordance with designation of the original page and the position on the displayed image objects. Display of the image objects is controlled for the document edited by the editor.

  • Publication number: 20030159114
Abstract: The object of this invention is to automatically determine by a printing system on the basis of print settings and the like whether to output all records by a single print job or respective records by independent print jobs in variable printing. For this purpose, in the printing system according to this invention, saved print settings are loaded, and of these print settings, the value of a predetermined setting item which requires variable job division is determined. If the item which requires variable job division is determined to be set, a despool table is so set as to generate independent print jobs for respective records. If job division is necessary for respective records in accordance with print settings, independent print jobs are generated for the respective records.

  • Publication number: 20030142337
Abstract: An information processing apparatus that can be connected to an image-forming apparatus, a method, and a program used for the information processing apparatus are disclosed. The information processing apparatus comprises a control unit for controlling print-setting information set for document data to be printed, a recognition unit for recognizing information about a first function specified by the print-setting information by translating the print-setting information controlled by the control unit, an obtaining unit for obtaining information about a second function of the image-forming apparatus connected to the information processing apparatus, a determination unit for determining whether or not the image-forming apparatus can perform the first function recognized by the recognition unit based on the second-function information obtained by the obtaining unit, and a modification unit for modifying the print-setting information controlled by the control unit based on the determination result.

  • Publication number: 20030053113
Abstract: When a document is printed, a designated printing range of the document is accepted, and a decision as to whether printing processing can be performed in the designated printing range is made on the basis of the designated printing range and print settings made for the document, and a printing range in which printing processing is permitted is determined according to a result of this decision.

  • Publication number: 20030053107
Abstract: Even when printing cannot be executed by only the common setting included in a printing designation document, in order to generate the printing setting information native in a printer in accordance with the common general designation information included in a printing designation document and to execute the processing of a printing document in accordance with the information, a printing control method inputs a printing document and a printing designation document for specifying the processing content of the printing document, specifies a printer for processing the printing document in accordance with the input printing designation document, and obtains the native printing setting information which can be set to a control program in the printing control apparatus for controlling the specified printer, and controls the processing of transmitting a printing designation according to native printing setting information obtained by the obtainment step to the printer through the printing control program.

  • Publication number: 20010025326
Abstract: An image input system prevents excessive load from being placed on a network when using an image input device via the network. When an application, such as an optical character recognition (OCR) application, running on a client computer is to utilize an image scanned by a scanner connected over the network, and when the application has designated a batch transfer mode as an image transfer mode, modules of the client computer virtually acquire the scanned image in the batch transfer mode and transfer the image to the application.
