Patent number: 11685445Abstract: A vehicle roof structure is provided capable of maintaining side collision performance of a vehicle even without a roof reinforcing member. The vehicle roof structure includes an annular frame that is joined to a circumferential edge of a roof panel (which includes an outer panel and an inner panel), and supports the roof panel. The annular frame has a higher rigidity than the roof panel, is arranged in an opening of a roof, and is joined to a pair of roof side rails, a front header, and a rear header.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2020Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: MAZDA MOTOR CORPORATIONInventors: Tomohito Okuyama, Ryuji Nonaka, Junji Kishimoto, Toshimine Morino, Kazuhisa To, Chikara Tanaka, Shin Sasaki

Publication number: 20220001731Abstract: An upper vehicle-body structure includes a cover that fits in an opening in a roof panel of a vehicle; a sunroof device that moves the cover between a one position in the opening and another position out of the opening; and a deflector which extends in a vehicle width direction along a front end edge portion of the sunroof device and is shifted to an upper position above the opening in a case that an opening operation of the cover is performed. The deflector includes plural raised walls having upper end portions and plural recesses which are alternately disposed with the raised walls in the vehicle width direction, each recess extending in a vehicle front-rear direction, and blocking wall portions protruding to a height not lower than the upper end portions of the raised walls are respectively provided in rear end portions of the plural recesses.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2021Publication date: January 6, 2022Applicant: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Yasuyuki SHIGYOU, Kazuhiko HIASA, Tatsuo KOIBUCHI, Kenta MURAKAMI, Yuna TANITA, Junji KISHIMOTO

Patent number: 10793100Abstract: A resin cowl grille is provided to cover an upper portion of a cowl box. The cowl grille includes an upper wall portion and a front wall portion separated from the upper wall portion and provided with a bending promotion portion for inducing bending deformation upon action of load from above. The front wall portion includes a body portion and attachment piece portions extending backward from the body portion and fastened to a front portion of the upper wall portion. A weak portion for load in an upper-to-lower direction is formed by the attachment piece portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2018Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: MAZDA MOTOR CORPORATIONInventors: Atsushi Nakamura, Junji Kishimoto, Hiroshi Mizuguchi

Patent number: 8209813Abstract: In a vehicle windshield wiper system, a support base includes a connecting rod (9) fixedly attached to a vehicle body and extending across a width of the vehicle body, and a base member (10, 11) depending from an intermediate part of the connecting member. A wiper motor (2) attached to a lower surface of a horizontal wall portion (11) of the base member, and a crank arm (3) is attached to an output shaft of the wiper motor. The base member is formed with an opening (13) to avoid an interference with the crank arm as the crank arm undergoes the rotative movement. The opening in the support base prevents an interference with the movement of the crank arm, and this allows the crank arm and an associated link mechanism (6) to be placed opposite to a vertically intermediate part of the support base, and immediately adjacent to the support base. Therefore, the windshield wiper system can be accommodated in a readily available space (24) under the lower edge of the windshield.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2008Date of Patent: July 3, 2012Assignee: Mitsuba CorporationInventors: Yuji Igarashi, Kazuhiro Sekiguchi, Mikito Kato, Junji Kishimoto
