  • Patent number: 5154545
Abstract: An improvement of a high density pneumatic transport system for pneumatically transporting powdered or granular materials placed in an airtight storage container to a collector through a transport pipe having a vertical riser pipe intermediately thereof by the use of pressurized gas. The transport pipe comprises a lower horizontal pipe being connected to the airtight storage container and having a convergent cylindrical accelerating reducer, an upper horizontal pipe being connected to the collector and having a divergent cylindrical decelerating reducer at its initial end, and a vertical riser pipe which connects the lower horizontal pipe to the upper horizontal pipe. The vertical riser pipe is provided at intermediate thereof up and down with an acceleration regulating reducer having a convergent accelerating portion above its bottom having a constricted portion and a divergent cylindrical decelerating reducer.

  • Patent number: 5075558
Abstract: A sheet-like pad having a grid pattern constituted by X-axis grid lines and Y-axis grid lines perpendicular to the X-axis grid lines, and adapted to be placed between a document and an optical reader of a type which comprises an optical scanner for scanning the document to read an image on the document while the document is radiated with first rays of light emitted therefrom and a position sensor for reading the grid pattern for locating the position of the optical reader on the document while the document is radiated with second rays of light emitted therefrom. The sheet-like pad comprises a film-like base having upper and lower surfaces opposite to each other, reflective layers formed on the upper surface of the base for periodically reflecting the second rays of light in first and second directions perpendicular to each other, and a protective layer formed on the upper surface of the base so as to overlay the reflective layers.

  • Patent number: 4904127
Abstract: An improved method and related system for pneumatically transporting powdered or granular materials stored in an airtight storage container to a collector through a transport pipe in the form of a lengthy column in high density and at a slow speed by the use of pressurized gas. The method of the invention comprises the steps of stopping feeding of the pressurized gas when the whole of the powdered or granular materials corresponding to a final batch contained in the storage container are sent into the material transport pipe, simultaneously discharging the internal pressure of the storage container through a gas decompressing means, inserting a transport plug from the base end of the material transport pipe, and carrying forward the transport plug at a slow speed by feeding pressurized gas from the base end of the transport pipe.

  • Patent number: 4786538
Abstract: Metal tellurium is vaporized under the atmosphere of oxygen gas and/or inert gas formed into a plasma by a high frequency power to thereby form a tellurium oxide (TeOx, 0.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.2) layer. The tellurium oxide layer formed in accordance with the present method is stabilized, and a suboxide having a high sensitivity which has been considered to be unsuitable as an optical recording medium due to the lack of stability can be utilized.High frequency power, gas pressure and vaporization speed of metal tellurium can be varied to thereby vary the value X of TeOx from 0 to 2. When the TeOx films whose value X thicknesswise is different are formed continuously within one and the same vessel and the vaporization speed is made to zero, oxidization of a film surface may be carried out. Thereby, the TeO.sub.2 film may be formed on the surface, and an optical recording medium may be obtained which is extremely stable and has excellent adhesive properties between the substrates and between the layers.
