    Abstract: The present invention provides methods of generating cardiomyocytes from a cell other than a cardiomyocyte, the methods generally involving contacting the cell with an agent that increases the level and/or activity of a protein that links a transcription factor to a chromatin remodeling complex. The present invention provides a population of cardiomyocytes generated using a subject method; and treatment methods involving introducing the cardiomyocyte population in or around diseased myocardial tissue.
