    Abstract: An apparatus for object detection includes a processor configured to detect an object around a vehicle by inputting a sensor signal into a classifier. The sensor signal is obtained by at least one sensor for sensing the situation around the vehicle, and the sensor is mounted on the vehicle. The processor is further configured to set the degree of omission of computation so that at least part of computation on the sensor signal by the classifier will be omitted when the speed of the vehicle is not greater than a predetermined speed threshold and the situation around the vehicle does not correspond to any of predetermined exceptional situations.

    Abstract: In an in-vehicle target detecting device, a captured image which is an image capturing an area ahead of the own vehicle is acquired at a predetermined measurement cycle. Radio waves are transmitted and received. Positional information indicating at least an orientation and a distance of at least one target candidate in relation to the own vehicle is acquired. The target candidate reflects radio waves. Image recognition is performed to detect a detection object by searching a predetermined image search area in the captured image. At least an image detection position of the detection object in the captured image is stored. The image search area is set, based on an image-plane measurement position corresponding to a measurement position in the captured image. The measurement position is a position in three-dimensional space of the target candidate indicated by the positional information acquired at a timing at which the captured image is acquired.

The determination section determines whether the determination target is in an inattentive state based on the determination target orientation by determining an inattentive state determination condition. The warning section notifies the inattentive state by outputting an audio warning corresponding to a parameter of the audio warning. The setting section sets at least one of the inattentive state determination condition and the parameter of the audio warning based on the hand shape and the determination target orientation.

The apparatus selects an effective edge extending along the pupil by removing a part of edge extending along the upper eyelid from the edges detected. Then, the apparatus applies the circle Hough transformation to the effective edge in order to obtain a center of the pupil and a radius of the pupil. Thereby, it is possible to detect the pupil accurately even if a part of the pupil is covered.

    Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a gaze direction of a driver is mounted on an automotive vehicle. An image of the driver's face on which infrared rays are incident is reflected on a windshield, and the reflected image is fed into a camera. An outside view entering through the windshield may be subtracted from the image of the driver's face taken into the camera to obtain a clearer image of the driver's face. A gaze direction of the driver is detected by a known method (refer to the Specification) based on the image taken by the camera. A mirror for further reflecting the image reflected on the windshield may be added to the apparatus to position the camera freely in the vehicle. A band-pass filter for allowing only the infrared rays to pass through may be disposed before the camera to suppress an image of outside view entering through the windshield. The gaze direction of the driver is correctly detected without placing the camera in a direct front of the driver.

    Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a gaze direction of a driver is mounted on an automotive vehicle.
