    Abstract: Provided are melt-spun fibers comprising, as at least one component, a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol, and a method for producing fibrous structures comprising the fibers. The thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol fibers comprise, as at least one component, a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol containing from 0.1 to 25 mol % of C1-4 &agr;-olefin units and/or vinyl ether units, having a molar fraction, based on vinyl alcohol units, of a hydroxyl group of vinyl alcohol unit located at the center of 3 successive vinyl alcohol unit chain in terms of triad expression of being from 70 to 99.9 mol %, having a carboxylic acid and lactone ring content of from 0.02 to 0.15 mol %, and having a melting point falling between 160° C. and 230° C., and contain from 0.0003 to 1 part by weight, relative to 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl alcohol therein and in terms of sodium ion, of an alkali metal ion.

    Abstract: A screen textile material for high precision and high density screen printing is made of a core and sheath type conjugate fiber in which a core component is formed of a thermotropic liquid crystalline polyester (A polymer) and a sheath component is formed by blending a flexible thermoplastic polymer (B polymer) and a thermotropic liquid crystalline polyester (C type) with a blending ratio of the C polymer of 0.15 to 0.45. The core and sheath type conjugate fiber has a specific color specification values to perform high quality printing by prevention of halation.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a woven fabric and more particularly to a woven fabric having a velvety appearance. At least either warp yarns or weft yarns in the fabric comprise conjugate fibers having a cross sectional configuration such that the flatness is 3.5-15.0. Conjugate fibers representing more than 35% by weight of the conjugate fiber content of the fabric at portions other than formation points of the fabric have an angle of inclination of 45.degree.-90.degree. relative to the surface of the fabric. The floating distance between the formation points of the fabric covers a length of more than 1/4 of the pitch of the twist in the conjugate fiber.

    Abstract: A suede woven fabric comprises a warp yarn selected from the group consisting of polyester textured yarn, polyester filament yarn and polyester spun yarn, and a weft yarn of polyester island filaments whose mean thicknesses in denier are within the range from 0.05 to 0.50 and whose degree of variation of thickness is 15 to 60%; wherein a portion of said island filaments on at least one surface of the fabric is raised to form piles of individual island monofilaments whose mean lengths are from 0.5 to 4.0mm; wherein the number of floating points on said weft yarn, whose number of floats in within the range of 3 to 11, is 100 to 500/cm.sup.2 of woven fabric, and wherein the relation between the shear stiffness G.sub.0.5 at a shear angle of 0.5.degree. and the stiffness G.sub.5 at a shear angle of 5.degree., represented by G.sub.5 /G.sub.0.5, is 1.5 to 15.
