  • Publication number: 20020176739
Abstract: In an arrangement for attaching a pair of members to each other, a spacer member provides the function to extend and retract in the axial direction so that the positioning of a first member to a second member is facilitated because a gap may be defined between the two members before joining them to each other, and the dimensional precision between the steering hanger pipe and the front pillar of the vehicle body is not required to be unduly high. This gap is filled by the spacer member as a threaded bolt is fastened owing to the action of a reverse thread, and the two members can be firmly attached to each other without involving any unacceptable deformation of the two members.

  • Publication number: 20020162372
Abstract: The present invention relates to a metallic, precise columnar member having an outer diameter with high accuracy, wherein the columnar member comprises a plurality of flattened thread ridges having a predetermined outer diameter provided on the surface of a metallic columnar blank in an axial direction. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of using rolling to form a plurality of thread ridges on the surface thereof and using rolling or drawing to make the tops of the thread ridges flat.

  • Publication number: 20020131839
Abstract: This invention relates to a bolt comprising a bolt shank formed at an outer peripheral surface thereof with external threads, and a nut formed at an inner peripheral surface thereof with internal threads, comprising a latch means for latching the nut with the bolt shank, which is provided on at least one of the bolt shank and the nut, the nut being separatable from the bolt shank and capable of being screwed onto the bolt shank, wherein the nut is movable relative to the bolt shank in a state of being screwed onto the bolt shank, when a larger torque than a predetermined torque is applied to the nut while the latch means latches the nut with the bolt shank.

  • Patent number: 5174704
Abstract: A hexagon head bolt having a head with an incline formed on each of the outer faces thereof so as to be inwardly inclined toward a respective corner of each face. Thus the head of the bolt can easily be engaged with the socket of an impact wrench or the like, without damage of the corners of the bolt. In another embodiment, a hexagon socket is provided having an incline formed on each of the outer faces thereof so as to be outwardly inclined toward a respective corner of each face.
