Abstract: A field device for automation technology, which has a metal housing for accommodating a field device electronics. On the field device at least one opening is provided, which is closable via a lid composed at least partially of a non-metallic material, wherein an RFID chip and an RF antenna are arranged in the housing in such a manner that communication and energy exchange with an RFID reading device arranged outside of the field device can transpire, and wherein the reading device is so embodied that it provides sufficient energy to the RFID chip when the energy supply to the field device is interrupted, in order to read out via the RFID antenna the data stored on the RFID chip.

Abstract: A field device having at least one memory and at least two replaceable modules, each of which has hardware and firmware associated with the hardware. In such case, firmware version information of a compatible firmware version combination of the modules of the field device is stored in the at least one memory or such is storable therein at a first-time start-up of the field device. Furthermore, the field device is embodied in such a manner that a comparison in the case of at least one module of its firmware version with the firmware version information stored in the memory is automatically performable and that the module is automatically switchable to the firmware version as claimed in the firmware version information, in case the comparison shows a deviation of the firmware version of the module from the firmware version of the firmware version information stored for the corresponding module.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for the automatic matching of a transmitter to an antenna is disclosed. A voltage signal proportional to the square root of the load impedance of the final stage of the transmitter is compared to a signal which is proportional to the square root of the nominal value of the final stage load impedance and the difference is used as the criteria for tuning a load coupling coil connecting the final stage of the transmitter to the antenna.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring and controlling the anode power dissipation of transmitters. First and second signals proportional to the anode power input and anode power output are produced and subtracted from each other, thus resulting in a third signal proportional to anode power dissipation. The third signal is applied to a pair of threshold value actuators, with one threshold value actuator actuating transmitter tuning elements when an initial threshold level is exceeded, and the second threshold actuator switching the transmitter off when a second threshold is exceeded.
