  • Publication number: 20040226794
Abstract: A torsional vibration damper on the bridging clutch of a hydrodynamic clutch arrangement has a first connecting device, which can be brought into working connection with the clutch housing and with a drive-side transmission element. The drive-side transmission element is connected via first energy-storage devices to an intermediate transmission element. The torsional vibration damper also has a second connecting device for establishing a working connection via second energy-storage devices between the intermediate transmission element and a takeoff-side transmission element, which is connected to a takeoff-side component of the hydrodynamic clutch arrangement. The intermediate transmission element accepts a mass element, located operatively between the two connecting devices.

  • Publication number: 20040109770
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter which has a hydrodynamic circuit including at least one pump wheel and one turbine wheel, wherein each of these rotors is provided with an outer shell which accepts a set of vanes which form flow chambers, the inner edges of the vanes being connecting to an inner shell, which acts as part of an internal torus. For the sake of production, each of these vanes, before it is installed in the rotor in question, forms part of a vane plate, from which material is removed by industrial processing operations to create open areas in the plate. In addition, each vane has a curved zone and a flat zone, where the curved zone has at least one plane of curvature, which proceeds from a trailing flow edge of the vane toward the leading flow edge.

  • Publication number: 20040107698
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter which has at least a hydrodynamic circuit including at least one pump wheel and one turbine wheel, wherein each of these wheels is provided with an outer shell to accept a set of vanes which form flow chambers, the inner edges of the vanes away from the outer shell being connected to an inner shell, which acts as part of an internal torus. At least the vanes of the turbine wheel have connecting elements both on the inner edges and on the outer edges, which connecting elements pass through openings in the shells to fasten the vanes to the shells, being provided for this purpose with a predetermined minimum overhang with respect to the edge of the associated vane, this minimum overhang making it possible for the connecting elements to be plastically deformed in such a way that they can grip the rear surfaces of the shells, i.e., the surfaces facing away from the vanes, and thus fasten the vanes to the shells.

  • Patent number: 6343671
Abstract: To create an additional steering angle for a vehicle, an actuator having a microprocessor-controlled electric motor functioning as the drive and a gear driven by said electric motor, is used to apply to the wheels the additional steering angle at the vehicle axle. The gear is a known constant-pitch planetary rolling-contact threaded-spindle gear (constant-pitch PRCTS gear) (12), consisting of a spindle rod (16), a spindle nut (14) surrounding the former, and a number of interposed rollers or rolling elements (18) with a groove profile (19) matching the thread (17) of the spindle rod (16). The rollers or rolling elements (18) are run on a number of guide rings (20) and interposed bearings (20), and placed at a fixed predetermined distance relative to the spindle nut (14) and to one another. The spindle rod (16) concurrently functions as the axis of the electric motor and is placed inside an electric motor rotor (9′).

  • Patent number: 5925083
Abstract: To support the driver of a road vehicle, a yaw velocity r (in radian/s) around a vertical axis is measured, a driving speed v.sub.x (in m/s) is determined, an acceleration a.sub.x (in m/s.sup.2) in the driving direction is measured, a lateral acceleration is measured at two randomly selected locations at a distance of l.sub.a as a.sub.y1 (in m/s.sup.2, front) and a.sub.y2 (m/s.sup.2, rear), a steering wheel angle .delta..sub.H is measured at the vehicle steering column with a potentiometer, a vehicle wheel angle .delta..sub.L =.delta..sub.H /i.sub.L commanded by the driver is computed, a variable angle .beta..sub.F at the front axis is computed, and these measured parameters are used to calculate, in a microprocessor, according to the equations (4, 20 and 21), an additional steering angle .delta..sub.C, whose addition to the vehicle wheel angle .delta..sub.L commanded by the driver results in the overall wheel angle .delta..sub.F =.delta..sub.L +.delta..sub.C.

  • Patent number: 5515275
Abstract: A control system for steering a road vehicle having front-wheel and rear-wheel steering, comprising a wheel base l (in m), a rear cornering stiffness c.sub.h (in N/rad), a center of gravity distance l.sub.v (in m) from the front axle and a mass m (in kg) and provided with a decoupled control circuit, a predetermined yaw damping D.sub.G is adjusted according to a damping parameter ##EQU1## via the steering of the rear wheels through an angle .delta..sub.h (in rad). Herewith the yaw rate r (in rad/s), travelling velocity v (in m/s) and steering wheel angle .delta..sub.L (in rad) are measured and the angle .delta..sub.h =(l/v-k.sub.D) (w.sub.h -r) is calculated by a microprocessor, whereby w.sub.h is formed as command variable from the measured steering wheel angle (.delta..sub.L) by a prefilter (F.sub.h) associated with the rear-wheel steering.

  • Patent number: 5428536
Abstract: A steering system for a road vehicle with front-wheel steering employs microprocessor integrating feedback of the vehicle yaw rate to the front-wheel steering actuator so as to decouple the yaw movement from the lateral movement of the front axle. Sensors measure vehicle speed, yaw rate (by gyroscope), lateral front axle acceleration (by acceleromether at the front axle), and the angle at which the driver holds the steering wheel. The microprocessor controls the front steering actuator according to a formula whose dependent quantities include the sensor outputs, fixed vehicle parameters (such as wheel base), and a preselected time constant. The vehicle's handling changes when the time constant is varied.

  • Patent number: 5375057
Abstract: A method of steering road vehicles having front-wheel and rear-wheel steering is provided in which by an integrating feedback of a measured yaw rate signal to the front-wheel steering the yaw motion is decoupled from the lateral motion of the front axle, the problem of steering thereby being split into two subproblems to be solved separately, that is into a lateral track guiding of the front axle by a signal which a driver generates with the steering wheel, and into an automatic control of the yaw motion, and the eigenvalues of the yaw motion can be shifted as desired by feedback of the measured yaw rate signal to the rear-wheel steering in such a manner that the choice of the yaw eigenvalues has no influence on the steering transfer function from the steering wheel to the lateral motion of the front axle. When employing the steering method according to the invention the driver no longer has to worry at all about the yaw motion of his vehicle; it is stable.
