  • Patent number: 6312340
Abstract: An effective reduction of vibration overshoots is intended to be effected in a drive shaft, which is configured as a hollow shaft (8), with simple means at the particular vibration maximum (vibration antinode). A vibration absorber (2) is arranged within the hollow shaft (8) and includes a damping mass (absorber mass) (4) and an elastic coupling element (6). The absorber mass (4) is operatively connected to the inner wall of the hollow drive shaft (8) via the elastic coupling (6). The absorber mass is configured to be rotationally symmetrical and axially symmetrical and has, at its center, a constriction (12) for accommodating the elastic coupling element (6). For use as a drive shaft (hollow shaft) (8), which is built in in the vehicle transverse direction, and for use as a drive shaft (8) (cardanic shaft configured as hollow shaft) which is built in in the vehicle longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 4811934
Abstract: A hydraulically damped resilient mounting having a housing that is closed off on opposite sides by resilient elastomeric elements to form an interior of the housing. A partition is disposed in the housing between the resilient elastomeric elements in such a way as to divide the interior of the housing into two chambers that are filled with damping fluid. The partition is provided with a flow passage so that the volumes of the two chambers can be reciprocally varied. The flow passage includes a hollow chamber that forms a large portion of the surface area of the partition. The flow passage also includes an at least nearly tangentially disposed inlet, in the outer peripheral region of a partition, to provide communication between one of the two chambers and the hollow chamber. The flow passage further includes an at least nearly axially disposed outlet, in the central portion of the partition, to provide communication between the hollow chamber and the other of the two chambers.

  • Patent number: 4728085
Abstract: A flexible diaphragm-like element that serves as a partition between the two chambers of a damping mechanism of a resilient motor mount. These chambers are filled with damping fluid, and their volume can be varied as a function of the springing movements of the resilient mounting elements, with the damping action deriving from the throttled transfer of the fluid from one chamber into the other. To prevent noise from being produced, the diaphragm-like element is secured in such a way that it has freedom of movement. This freedom of movement is set in the diaphragm-like element itself by dividing the latter into three concentrically disposed and interconnected ringshaped zones, namely a radially inner zone, a central zone, and a radially outer zone, with the thickness of the central zone being considerably less than the thickness of the inner and outer zones.
