  • Patent number: 7123685
Abstract: The invention relates to continuously determining the fat content of meat. A conveyor belt is used on which the pieces of meat to be examined are advanced past a radiation source serving as a fat analyzing means. The attenuation of an X-ray beam emitted from the radiation source is measured by a detector to determine the fat content. A weighing device continuously determines the weight of the quantity of meat located on the conveyor belt at the time of the measurement. This also makes it possible to calculate the absolute fat content. The invention also relates to a method for automatically setting a defined fat content in a mixer. The examined meat is transferred from the conveyor belt and into the mixer. The accumulated fat content in the mixer is calculated, compared with a set value, and the conveyor belt is loaded with lean or fatty meat according to the result of this calculation.

  • Publication number: 20050118671
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining the supply profile of at least one micro-nutrient in a biological sample. Cell proteins, in particular cell membrane proteins are removed from the biological sample, in particular after determining the number and/or quantity of cells contained therein, by subjecting the cells to lysis, optionally after isolating them, and micro-nutrients are removed from the lysate, if necessary after denaturing, and their proportion in the sample, in particular their weight, is measured as a measure of the intra-cellular concentration.

  • Patent number: 6260604
Abstract: A strand pulling-off method for a metal strand, particularly a steel strip, cast in a curved continuous casting plant, wherein the metal strand is initially vertically pulled from a casting mold, wherein a curved shape is then imparted on the metal strand in a curved entry driver driven with an entry torque, and wherein, after reaching a horizontal strand travel direction, the metal strand is finally straightened in a curved exit driver driven with an exit torque. An entry speed is assigned to the curved entry driver and an exit speed is assigned to the curved exit driver, the entry torque and the exit torque are determined, and the exit speed is adjusted in such a way that the entry torque as well as the exit torque have a positive value.
