  • Publication number: 20030181986
Abstract: Surgical application, holding, fixing and/or fastening element with a shaft section that is elongated in at least certain sections, for example hip endoprosthesis (10) with a shaft (12) to be secured in a medullary channel of the femur of a patient, pins or bone screws for pinning fractures and/or fixing the position of bone fragments after bone surgery. The elongated shaft section includes a through bore (20) extending essentially in the longitudinal direction of the shaft section (12) and being open-ended on at least one end for introducing a flowable mass that hardens or sets after introduction, and at least one through opening (22) that connects the through bore with the outside of the shaft section.

  • Patent number: 5707012
Abstract: An atomizing sieve of a fuel injection valve having a dish-like concavely cambered form is provided downstream of at least one spray orifice of the fuel injection valve, as seen in the direction of flow of fuel. The atomizing sieve is cast with an outer circumferential region in a protective cap provided at the downstream end of the fuel injection valve. For protection against mechanical effects, protective prongs of the protective cap project further downstream than the lowest region of the atomizing sieve. When the fuel is being injected, a part quantity collects in this lowest region and represents a comparatively static liquid quantity which new fuel then strikes. This arrangement allows an ideal break-up of the fuel into very small droplets. The atomizing sieve also forms a protective shield against icing-up, plugging and settlement of chemical substances within the fuel injection valve.

  • Patent number: 5540387
Abstract: A device has a jet divider with a convex divider surface facing the perforated spray disc. The convex jet divider acts as a flow resistance, thereby causing stagnation region flow. The stagnation-region flow is responsible for the fact that, despite the gas containing, separation of the jets is maintained even downstream of the jet divider (86) and for the good preparation effect of the gas containing by virtue of improved mixing of the gas and fuel. The device for injecting a fuel/gas mixture is suitable particularly for injection into the intake pipe of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition.

  • Patent number: 5493442
Abstract: In order to reduce the number of thin-films necessary to construe an interference band-pass filter for exclusive transmission of light in the UVA range the filter edge towards smaller wavelengths in the spectral characteristic is realized by the absorption edge of the material of one of the thin-films of a thin-film interference filter which filter produces the band-pass filter edge directed towards higher wavelengths.
