    Abstract: A vehicle braking unit comprises an operating braking pressure inlet which receives an inlet braking pressure built up by a braking cylinder, and at least one operating brake pressure outlet at which an outlet braking pressure is provided for an operating brake modulator, which is upstream of the operating brake and provides anti-lock functionality. At least one connecting channel hydraulically connects the operating brake pressure inlet to the outlet. Brake fluid is supplied from a storage unit through the brake cylinder, the connecting channel and the operating brake modulator. The braking unit has a brake fluid inlet, through which the brake fluid is received from the storage unit, a brake fluid pump, by which the brake fluid is suctioned through the brake fluid inlet and a supply pressure is built up, and a valve unit that controls the outlet braking pressure and/or a parking brake release pressure by the supply pressure.

    Abstract: A braking device for a vehicle comprises a main brake cylinder, which provides, in response to the actuation thereof, an operating brake pressure in at least one operating brake circuit for the actuation of an operating brake. A hydraulic fluid pressure intake is connected to a hydraulic circuit, which contains a hydraulic fluid having a built-up hydraulic circuit pressure. Through the hydraulic fluid pressure intake, the hydraulic fluid is provided at the hydraulic circuit pressure. The braking device further comprises a valve device, which actively controls a main brake cylinder actuation pressure and/or a parking brake release pressure by means of the hydraulic fluid that is provided. The main brake cylinder is actuated by means of the main brake cylinder actuation pressure for an active brake engagement. Alternatively or additionally, a parking brake is hydraulically released by means of the parking brake release pressure.

    Abstract: A spring-actuated parking brake includes a spring brake actuator communicating with a fluid source via a supply line. In brake released condition, the actuator is pressurized via a supply valve; in engaged condition, the actuator communicates with a pressure sink via the supply valve and a pressure-relief line. During brake engagement, the supply valve and a shutoff valve between the supply valve and actuator are switched to flow-enabled position for pressure relief of the actuator placing it in communication with the pressure sink. For brake release, the supply valve is switched to the fluid source and the shutoff valve is switched to fluid-passing position communicating with the fluid source to pressurize the brake cylinder. After brake engagement, the shutoff valve is switched to shut-off position decoupling the actuator from the supply line; the supply valve is switched to flow-enabled position placing the supply line in communication with the pressure sink.

    Abstract: A method for controlling the speed of an off-the-road vehicle traveling on a gradient permits a constant downhill speed to be maintained. The vehicle speed can be set to a constant descending speed by an electronic system through active braking intervention, without requiring actuation of the brake by the driver. The vehicle in which the method is practiced has several forward speeds and one reverse speed within a low-range traveling phase. The constant descending speed is dependent upon the position of the gas pedal and upon the currently engaged gear of the low-range traveling phase. The method for use in off-the-road vehicles is particularly advantageous for situations in which the braking action of the engine on steep gradients is no longer sufficient to decelerate the vehicle.

    Abstract: A process for controlling the speed of a vehicle travelling on a slope is disclosed. The vehicle is equipped with an electronic system which, through active brake intervention, adjusts the speed of the vehicle to a predetermined constant hill descent speed upon actuation of a hill descent control mode. The process comprises generating in the electronic system a continuously variable desired speed, and upon actuation of said hill descent control mode, the desired speed is continuously adjusted until it is equal to the predetermined constant hill descent speed. While the desired speed is being adjusted, the vehicle speed is continuously adjusted through active brake intervention until it is equal to the desired speed, so that after a transition period, the vehicle speed is equal to the predetermined constant hill descent speed.

    Abstract: A process is disclosed for adjusting the speed of a vehicle travelling on a gradient to a predetermined desired speed, wherein the vehicle is equipped with an ABS and/or ASR system, comprises determining the actual speed of the vehicle travelling on a gradient, determining a control deviation for the vehicle, the control deviation being the difference between the actual speed of the vehicle and the desired speed, and actively applying the brakes of the vehicle when the control deviation is greater than a predetermined amount. Only the brakes of the downhill axle are braked so long as the control deviation is less than a predetermined control deviation, or so long as the slip of the braked wheels are less than a predetermined slip. The brakes of the uphill axle are applied only if the predetermined control deviation is exceeded.

    Abstract: An anti-lock braking system for a two-axle all-wheel drive vehicle having two intra-axle differentials and an engageable central inter-axle differential comprises a wheel sensor associated with each of the wheels for determining the rotational behavior of each of the wheels, and a four-channel electronic control circuit for providing individual wheel regulation. The electronic control circuit also detects whether the central differential is engaged or not and whether a malfunction has occurred in one of the channels. If one of the regulating channels has a malfunction and the central differential is not engaged, the electronic control circuit switches off regulation only in the malfunctioning channel. If, however, the central differential is engaged when a malfunction in one of the regulating channels has occurred, then the electronic control circuit switches off both the malfunctioning channel as well as an intact channel associated with a diagonally opposite wheel.
