  • Publication number: 20090199704
Abstract: A pneumatic brake servo which can be acted on by a pneumatic differential pressure is described. The brake servo includes an actuable input member comprising a valve piston, an output member for acting on a master brake cylinder, and a control valve which is arranged in a control housing and which can be actuated by the valve piston for controlling the differential pressure. An elastic reaction element is arranged in a control housing recess and against which the output member bears. The input member acts with an input effective area A1 on the reaction element, and the output member acts with an output effective area A2 on the reaction element. The ratio of output effective area A2 to input effective area A1 determines the force boost ratio of the brake servo. Means are provided for adjusting the output effective area A2 in the assembled brake servo.

  • Patent number: 7055867
Abstract: The present invention relates to a brake booster with at least one booster housing section including an opening into which a sealing element made of a flexible material is mounted, said sealing element including a recess into which a pneumatic connecting element, in particular for the vacuum supply of the brake booster, is slidable. An object of the present invention is to precisely define the exit portion of a deflected connecting element in its rotational position relative to the housing of the booster in order to simplify and improve the assembly. This object is achieved in that associated projections and recesses are used to ensure that the connecting element can only be mounted into the sealing element at the correct angle.

  • Patent number: 6880447
Abstract: The present invention relates to a brake force transmission device for a brake force booster with an elastic reaction element, and input member with an associated effective surface, an output member with an associated effective surface, and a first transmission ratio that is defined by a ratio of the effective surfaces being in operative engagement with the reaction element. An object of the present invention is to provide means of a simple design, if possible arranged in the form of an assembly, giving the operator of an automotive vehicle increased support when high braking forces are required. The essence of the invention is the provision of means which starting from a determined pressure prevailing in the reaction element will reduce the reaction force introduced into the input member by a defined amount. The driver is thus given additional support, requiring a proportionately reduced increase in input force for a further increase in output force.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a brake booster (1) with at least one booster housing section (3) including an opening (13) into which a sealing element (1) made of a flexible material is mounted, said sealing element (1) including a recess (10) into which a pneumatic connecting element (5), in particular for the vacuum supply of the brake booster (1), is slidable. An object of the present invention is to precisely define the exit portion (9) of a deflected connecting element (5) in its rotational position relative to the housing (3) of the booster in order to simplify and improve the assembly. This object is achieved in that associated projections (6) and recesses (7) are used to ensure that the connecting element (5) can only be mounted into the sealing element (1) at the correct angle.

  • Publication number: 20040050245
Abstract: The invention relates to a brake force transmission device for a brake force amplifier with an elastic reaction element (7), an input body (22), with an associated working surface (d4), an output body (24), with an associated working surface (d4), with a first transfer ratio, defined by a working surface ratio, actively dependent on the reaction element (7). The aim of the invention is to provide a means, of simple construction, where possible arranged in the form of an assembly, which gives the driver of a motor vehicle increased support when high braking force is required. According to the invention, means (2,4, 6,11) are provided, which reduce the reaction force supplied to the input body (22) by a certain proportion, after a certain pressure in the reaction element (7). The driver is thus given additional support and a relatively reduced increase in input force is required for a further increase in output force.

  • Patent number: 6651548
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pneumatic brake force booster with means for fastening the said to a vehicle wall which extend through the interior of the brake force booster, wherein a fixed stop for a first housing part is provided on a first end and a stop that is adjustable by means of a rotation for a second housing part is provided on a second end, and with means for the pneumatic sealing of housing openings for the fastening means. The gist of the present invention resides in that the fastening means has a smooth sealing portion adjacent to the adjustment area of the adjustable stop, and in that the sealing means, by multilateral abutment on a conical abutment surface of the adjustable stop, on the smooth sealing portion and the associated housing portion, closes a slot between the fastening means and the adjustable stop and a slot between the stop and the housing part. This achieves a simple and low-cost sealing of housing openings for the fastening means.

  • Patent number: 6481330
Abstract: The present invention discloses an arrangement for attaching a brake force booster, that is operable by a push rod, to the splashboard of an automotive vehicle by means of an adapter, wherein a sealing element is interposed between the adapter and the splashboard which additionally is in a radially sealing abutment with the push rod. In order to ensure the correct positioning of the sealing element during the assembly of the brake force booster, the present invention arranges for the brake force booster to include at least one connecting bolt having attaching elements at its ends for attaching the brake force booster to the adapter and for attaching a master brake cylinder connected downstream of the brake force booster to the booster housing, and the adapter has at least one recess which accommodates the attaching element associated with it, and the sealing element includes at least one guide bush which is adapted to be slipped on the attaching element.

  • Patent number: 6314865
Abstract: A vacuum brake force booster for a vehicle brake system, in particular, with a master brake cylinder that can be attached along with the brake force booster to a wall of an automotive vehicle, with a housing comprised of at least two wall elements attached to each other, and with at least one reinforcing element that extends through the interior of the housing and has a thin-walled tubular shape. The essence of the present invention is that the reinforcing element on at least one end passes over into a radially extending fastening portion which extends, at least in a partial zone, in parallel to the associated wall element and is supported on the wall element so that the interior of the brake force booster is separated pressure-tightly from the atmosphere. The present invention permits a simple and low-cost assembly of the brake force booster without the necessity of additional sealing elements which are difficult to mount.
