Abstract: A method for conveying sheets through a printing machine and an apparatus for conveying the sheets permit adaptation of a sheet brake to various sheet thicknesses by reducing a speed of the sheets in the direction of advance by bringing the sheets individually one after another into contact with at least one suction element moved in the direction of advance, and by holding each sheet by the action of a suction apparatus on the suction element along a conveying section, dependent upon the sheet thickness, the suction action of the suction element along the conveying section is changed locally.

Abstract: A damping unit for offset presses, which damping unit has a tipping roller which is immersed in a damping solution pan, a metering roller associated with the tipping roller, and a form roller which applies the damping solution to a printing plate of a plate cylinder. The rollers of the damping unit can be driven at different speeds and in different directions, whereby the drive can be controlled independently of the press speed.

Abstract: An ink fountain for offset or letterpress printing presses is taught. The ink fountain has an ink dosing device with dosing elements which can be set to zonally different ink gap thicknesses on an ink ductor roller. The dosing elements are covered by an elastic film. An ink chamber is closed on both ends with closures. The two closures are connected by a cross arm to which cross arm the elastic film is fastened.

Abstract: Sheet-guiding drum of a sheet-fed rotary printing press having a drum shaft with support flanges mounted thereon for supporting paper carrier rods, respectively, having a longitudinal axis extending transversely to sheet travel direction on the drum, includes at least one additional support formed as a segment-shaped member and mounted on the drum shaft between a respective pair of the support flanges in a sheet-guiding region of the drum, said segment-shaped member having snap holders disposed at spaced intervals on the circumference thereof, said snap holders being formed of radially projecting, elastically deformable retaining lugs surrounding in pairs, over more than 180.degree., a holder bar of a paper carrier rod.
