  • Patent number: 5536029
Abstract: A rowing powered cycle is provided with a pair of rowing arms movable through a fore-aft reciprocal stroke motion and coupled to a drive mechanism for driving the cycle. The rowing arms are additionally coupled to a steering linkage for steering the cycle in response to left or right tilting movement of the rowing arms. Cycle steering may be performed simultaneously with reciprocal stroking motion of the rowing arms to drive the cycle, or during coasting movement.

  • Patent number: 4492172
Abstract: The method involves preparing seed beds in the form of parallel troughs of substantially closer spacing than used heretofore. Seeds for grass having non-rhizoming characteristics are planted in these troughs at a given rate to provide a substantially uniform seed density for all of the troughs. The close spacing of the troughs together with the seed density results in a sufficient plant competition as to force the growth upwardly thereby resulting in a greatly enhanced turf appearance over that which would result using conventional trough spacing and rhizoming grass. The controlled spacing between the adjacent troughs is accomplished by inserting serrated discs between successive flanged discs making up the front and rear rollers of a conventional seeding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4198912
Abstract: The pallet comprises a reusable portion and an adjacent expendable portion. A slip sheet overlies the top surfaces of both the reusable and expendable portions but is only attached to the expendable portion. With this arrangement, a fork lift can be received under both the reusable and expendable portions and lift a stack of items on the slip sheet to a desired location. The fork lift can then be lowered until both the reusable portion and expendable portion engage the floor. The fork lift is partially withdrawn to be free of the expendable portion but still positioned beneath the reusable portion. By then lifting slightly only the reusable portion, it may be withdrawn from under the slip sheet so that the stacked items will rest on the expendable portion and slip sheet and the reusable portion of the pallet is then available for use with other expendable portions and slip sheets.
