  • Process for crosslinking of polymers and copolymers using free radical forming agents

    Abstract: Crosslinkable polymers and co-polymers are treated with boric acid, boric acid anhydride, or mixtures thereof prior to crosslinking with free radical organic peroxide initiators in the presence of oxygen. This pre-treatment prevents stickiness of the surface of the crosslinked polymer making the crosslinked polymer more commercially acceptable.

  • Metallic salt pre-treatment of crosslinkable co-polymers for eliminating tackiness

    Abstract: Crosslinkable polymers and co-polymers are treated with organo-metallic compounds, inorganic metallic salts, or lanthanides prior to crosslinking with free radical organic peroxide initiators in the presence of oxygen. This pre-treatment eliminates tackiness of the surface of the crosslinked polymer making the crosslinked polymer more commercially acceptable.
