  • Patent number: 6076941
Abstract: A connector assembly, in particular for making contact with gas discharge lamps, is specified which is safe in operation even with the lamp not having been introduced. The assembly has a housing made of a dielectric material, having a central contact and having an outer contact. A rotatable sleeve made of a dielectric material is situated in the housing. The sleeve can be rotated by means of at least one lug fitted on the outer periphery of the base of the gas discharge lamp. A tongue which moves from a first position to a second position when the gas discharge lamp is screwed in is fitted on the rotatable sleeve. The tongue opens or closes an electrical circuit, or actuates a switch.

  • Patent number: 5968137
Abstract: A method for testing protocol converters is presented, which permits the achievement of a test of all commands, independently of a corresponding test system. A modified protocol converter itself is used for the test. With the help of this method, a test for conversion of data structures can be carried out, of a slow protocol into the corresponding data structures of a fast protocol in the original speed.

  • Patent number: 5568407
Abstract: A method and system for the design verification of logic units capable of providing verification of a logic unit design prior to chip production. At least one test unit is coupled to a logic unit via an interface. The test unit includes a set of operations which are applied to the logic unit. The selection of test operations to be applied to the logic unit and the determination of the start times thereof are executed randomly and independently of each other. Thus, with the present method and system two parameters of the test operation generating event: the sequence of the test operations, and the temporal relationship between the test operations, are independently and randomly modified.

  • Patent number: 5359489
Abstract: An electronic control assembly has a control box, a control module insertable into the control box and an electrical connector which is pivotally mounted within the box, between a position where the control module can be inserted into the box adjacent to the connector and between a position where the electrical connector is in electrical engagement with the electronic module. The electrical connector is pivotally mounted in the control box and includes a lower mounting leg having outer pinion portions which are positioned in a trunnion located in adjacent side walls forming a channel for the receipt of the connector and the module. The electronic module is in precise registration with the connector member, such that when the connector is pivoted into place, the electrical elements within the connector and the electronic module are in precise alignment.

  • Patent number: 5322460
Abstract: Receptacle terminal (2) has a web portion (18) and resilient sidewalls (20) which extend in one direction from the web (18). The sidewalls (20) extend inwardly over the web (18) and have free edge portions (22) which are spaced from the web (18) and which engage a tab (6) which is inserted into the receptacle terminal (2). The receptacle terminal (2) has first terminal engagement means (24, 26, 28) which cooperate with a leading portion (30) and an opening (40) of the tab (6) to position the receptacle terminal (2) in a preassembled position when the tab (6) is inserted onto the receptacle terminal (2). Second terminal engagement means (32) are provided on receptacle terminal (2) proximate inner end (14). The second terminal engagement means (32) cooperate with the opening (40) of tab (6) to position the receptacle terminal (2) in a fully assembled position when the tab ( 6) is inserted onto the receptacle terminal (2).

  • Patent number: 5188545
Abstract: The terminal (2) comprises a stamped and formed metal pin socket (6) comprising a base (12) from which extend two contact springs (14) each comprising an L-cross section forward portion having identical parts (18 and 20) which extend at right angles to each other. Back from contact bosses (22) of the springs (14), each spring (14) has a longitudinal slot (28) which enables the parts (18 and 20) of each spring (14) to splay resiliently apart from each other when a square cross section pin (P) is inserted into the socket (6), without the pin insertion force or the contact force exerted by the contact bosses (22) against the pin (P), being excessive. These forces can be predetermined by suitably dimensioning the slots (28).

  • Patent number: 5147222
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an outer shell (400) which is profiled to receive a pin housing (450) therein. The pin housing (450) has mounted therein a plurality of pins (622). The interior of the housing shell (400) is sealed by placing a grommet (624) over the end of a wire (626) and placing the terminal (622), the grommet (624) and wire (626) into the rear of the connector shell (400). To prevent the ingress of water into the shell (400), the grommet (624) includes at its exterior end, an elongate collar (624b) which, if the wire is pulled, will compress. This prevents the exterior ribs from pulling away from the aperture allowing the ingress of water.

  • Patent number: 5135416
Abstract: An electrical connector insulating housing (2) defines a single ring of cavities (8) each for receiving an electrical terminal (28). A central spigot (78) projects within the ring of cavities (8), as a cantilever, and acts as a pivot for annular terminal retainer (4) having thereon radially outwardly projecting terminal retaining studs (114) and a pair of diametrically opposed latching spurs (120), each spur (120) being engageable in first and second latching notches (108 and 108') in the spigot (78). Guides are provided to ensure that the terminal retainer (4) can be mated with the spigot (78) only in a first angular position in which each latching spur (120) engages in a first latching notch (108), in which position the terminal retaining studs (114) are outside the cavities (8).

  • Patent number: 4288031
Abstract: A thermostatic control valve for maintaining an essentially constant set value of an operating temperature of a liquid coolant conductible through a cooling jacket of an internal combustion engine with a valve chamber open to a first valve connection and with a valve controlling the coolant connection between a second valve connection and the valve chamber and a further valve controlling the coolant connection between a third valve connection and the valve chamber. A thermostatic adjusting element, responsive with adjusting movements to temperature changes, is operatively connected with the valves so as to selectively actuate the same. One of the valves is actuatable for suppression of a coolant flow in the cooling jacket by a spring means abutting a fixed thrust bearing mounted on the valve chamber with the other valve being actuatable by the adjusting element into a closed position.
