  • Patent number: 5789647
Abstract: A process for the extraction of carotenoid dyes from pre-dried natural starting materials is described using compressed gases such as propane and/or butane in which organic entraining agents can be additionally added in order to facilitate and complete the extraction process. With the aid of this process highly concentrated carotenoid dyes are obtained in high yield.

  • Patent number: 5750180
Abstract: A process is described for obtaining lipid fractions from egg products in powder form with a content of phospholipids in which the egg product is a) firstly extracted with liquid propane at a pressure of.ltoreq.200 bar and a temperature of.ltoreq.70.degree. C. and b) subsequently with a mixture of liquid propane and an entraining agent composed of an aliphatic alcohol with 1 to 4 C atoms. In this way it is possible to produce lipid fractions with good sensory properties whose content of phospholipids is at least 25% by weight and up to 80% by weight.

  • Patent number: 5718937
Abstract: A process to extract natural aromas from natural substances containing fat and oil with compressed gases, wherein the natural substances are extracted in two steps in which in the first step liquid propane and/or butane at a temperature of .ltoreq.70.degree. C. and at a pressure of <500 bar and in the subsequent second step compressed carbon dioxide at a temperature of .ltoreq.50.degree. C. and at pressures between 70 and 500 bar are used as extraction agents.

  • Patent number: 5714658
Abstract: For the extraction of carotenes, in particular of .beta.-carotene, from natural sources, these are stirred for several hours at at least 30.degree. C. in a solvent mixture composed of acetic esters of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alcohols as well as a portion of 1 to 25% by weight of an oil of biological origin. The natural colorant is in this way obtained in very high space-time yields and high purity.

  • Patent number: 5703228
Abstract: A process is described for the purification of carbohydrate derivatives with surface-active properties in which an extraction process is used to liberate the solid or liquid starting material from undesired lipophilic by-products by the use of compressed propane or a proportionate mixture thereof with butane at pressures between 8 and 150 bar and a process temperature below 120.degree. C. In this way it is possible to isolate valuable raw materials in a gentle manner either batch-wise or continuously which meet the high purity requirements, for example in the field of cosmetics.

  • Patent number: 5626756
Abstract: In order to fractionate or/and refine natural lipid materials by extraction with compressed gases, the natural materials are used in a liquid form and they are extracted with a liquid mixture of 50 to 90% by weight propane and 10 to 50% by weight carbon dioxide which is in a subcritical state.

  • Patent number: 5616359
Abstract: A process is described for the production of egg-based products in powder form with a reduced fat and cholesterol content in which the starting material in powder form is extracted with liquid propane at a pressure of .ltoreq.200 bar and at a temperature of .ltoreq.70.degree. C. In this way low-cholesterol and low-fat egg powder products with good sensory properties are produced without the phospholipids and in particular lecithin being removed to a substantial extent in this process.
